My first track and field season in America is behind me. I went into it planning to focus primarily on the 1500m, with the idea of mixing in a few 5000m races as well. What I didn’t expect was that I’d become an 800m runner. What’s funny is that I’ve run almost as many 800m races this season as I have in my entire track career so far (12 800m races from 2016–2025 and 8 800m races in just six months this year). I chose this path because I didn’t feel as comfortable in the 1500m as I used to, while I felt very good in terms of speed, and it was probably God’s will as well. And in the end, I can’t complain about anything. I managed to improve my personal best by 2 seconds and also win a bronze medal at the Great American Conference Championship, which I really value. Although anyone who knows me knows that I always want to get the most out of it, and this year was no exception, so I won’t lie when I say that I was aiming for gold at the conference finals, and on top of that, I was closely monitoring the times I needed to run to qualify for the U.S. National Championships. But in the end, it didn’t work out. The competition here is really fierce, even within the D2 league. What’s truly important, though, isn’t so much clinging to the results as it is the journey toward them, and especially who we get to know along the way. That’s why I’m so grateful to God for the people I’ve had the honor of meeting here over the past year.
Thank you all, my beloved Bisons. I am proud to be part of such a wonderful team of people who support one another, both in sports and in our relationship with God. It seems to me that if a person wants to be successful at anything, how earnestly they ask God for it plays a really big role.
After all, the Apostle John himself writes about it: "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." John 15:7
