🎬 Recently, the Jahangirnagar University team hosted a screening of the five short films made by students during the UNHCR × Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) Mobile Filmmaking Workshop 2026, alongside a discussion, an art exhibition and a musical performance.

Many thanks to the JU team and faculty for mobilizing their fellow students around refugee stories! 🙏

🏆 Congratulations again to the team, winners of the "Forced to Flee" category with their film "Manob”.

Next step: a visit to the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar!

Through this project, students learn to tell stories of displacement ethically, with respect, consent and dignity.

20 students. 5 universities. One theme: “Forced to Flee.”

Through the UNHCR–ULAB mobile filmmaking workshop, part of the Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival – DIMFF, students spent weeks learning to tell stories of displacement with dignity, not just data.

At the closing ceremony this Friday, 11 September, “MANOB” by Jahangirnagar University was selected as the winning film. As part of their prize, the team will join a day-long visit to a Rohingya refugee camp.

Every participating team brought its own lens to the theme, from identity to belonging, family, and hope, and each showed real care in how they chose to represent people who have been displaced, through ethical and dignified lenses.

👏 Thank you and congratulations to all participating students, and to our partners at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) and DIMFF for this collaboration.

Heartfelt thanks to DIMFF, UNHCR Bangladesh, and ULAB for creating this incredible learning opportunity and giving young filmmakers a platform to tell stories that matter.

And a very special thank you to Ayshi Akter and AR Tayeen & for your valuable support and encouragement throughout this journey. ❤️
