The Cornell Hotel Society’s “You Need to Meet” Annual Reception is back!

On Saturday, November 7th, we’re bringing together Cornell Hotelies, hospitality industry leaders, alumni, and friends for an unforgettable evening at The Times Center in New York City.

More than just a networking event, this reception honors the late Phil Miller and celebrates the relationships, generosity, and shared sense of community that define what it means to be a Hotelie.

Immediately following the Hotelie Hall of Fame celebration, guests will enjoy an open bar featuring exciting beverage sponsors, exceptional catering by Abigail Kirsch, a silent auction, and, most importantly, the opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new connections.

We’re especially grateful to our generous sponsors, Galleon Advisors, Schatzi Wines, Made In, The Original Southside, and XTrace, for helping make this evening possible.

Event Details:
📅 Saturday, November 7, 2026
🕔 5:00–8:00 PM
📍 The Times Center | 242 West 41st Street, NYC

Whether you’re a longtime member of the Cornell Hotel Society or looking to become more involved in the Hotelie community, we hope you’ll join us.

It’s called “You Need to Meet” for a reason. You never know which connection will make a difference.

Kinda chic to realize this was never really just a trip to Italy. 🇮🇹

It was watching my Mamma relax,
laugh,
eat,
drink,
people watch
and enjoy every second.

It was learning more about the food and traditions that shaped me.

And it was getting to look around and realize that somehow, the things my family taught me became the career that now lets me bring them along for the ride.

Seventeen years ago, I started cooking with my Nonna on the internet.

I could never have imagined where it would take me.

Thank you @anicav_associazione and @greatesttomatoesfromeurope for bringing Mamma Angela and me on this incredible experience and for giving us memories we’ll have forever.

And thank you to every single person who has watched, cooked with us,
laughed with us,
bought a book,
joined my tours,
shopped @bottegadellanonnastore,
shared a reel,
left a comment or simply stuck around all these years.

Kinda chic to build a life that lets you bring your Mamma with you. ❤️

Thank you to @winejames, @amiewinegirl, and the awesome team of staff and volunteers of the 21st Annual @texsom Conference for carrying the torch of a gathering that is equal parts education and reunion. It’s heartwarming to spend time with friends—new and old—especially right now.

Big shout out to colleagues who demonstrated interest in 🇬🇷 wines by attending and engaging in yesterday’s seminar, and especially to the awesome importers @stephenroussos, @dionysigrevenitis/@dnswines, @eklektikon, and @diamondwineimporters who furnished the wines that illustrated so many wonderful examples of the greatness born in Greece today.

Thank you also to fellow State of the Industry panelists @exquisitevines, @dzwine, @ssmmw, and @susanrlin for their valuable insights, and to Francis Percival for organizing, moderating, and (refereeing 😂) us.

And HOT DAMN that ‘91 @henschke Mount Edelstone blew my freaking mind.

Already looking forward to the next one!

Tomato Day Part 2

Two tomato producers, two family-run legacies, and a shared pursuit of exceptional quality.

Our visit began at SICA and continued at La Torrente, offering a closer look into the people and processes behind their tomatoes—from cultivation to the final stages of production. Across both companies, generations of expertise, tradition, and dedication are evident in every step, preserving not just quality, but identity.

What stands out most is the connection between place, product, and people. Seeing where the ingredients originate, how they are handled, and meeting those who safeguard these traditions brings a deeper appreciation for what ends up on the table.

SICA and La Torrente—two distinct family stories, united by a commitment to Italian tomatoes of uncompromising quality. 🇮🇹🍅

Pompeii, Sorrento & More 🍝🍷🇮🇹

Another day in Campania, and this one had a little bit of everything.

We started in Pompeii, walking through the ancient ruins and taking in all the incredible history. From there, it was off to Sorrento for a little exploring and, of course, lunch.

We settled in at L’Antica Trattoria, a Sorrento institution since 1930, tucked beneath a beautiful vine-covered pergola. Local flavors, beautiful seafood, pasta and plenty of wine — my kind of afternoon.

Then back to Naples to end the day at Palazzo Petrucci with a pizza demo, because when in Napoli…

Pompeii, Sorrento, pasta, wine, pizza and lots of laughs in between.
Andiamo! 🇮🇹

Good things happen when expertise becomes accessible.

One of the things we value about our work with @cava_oinos is the intention behind it: creating opportunities for people to engage directly with producers, ask questions, and experience Greek wine beyond the bottle itself. The result is often more than an appreciation of the wine. It’s new relationships, new ideas, new perspectives, and a greater understanding of the people and places behind each bottle.

A few moments from two evenings with @dougoswinery, the second producer in @cava_oinos’ May 2026 Wine Dinner Series, hosted at @ambrosia.garden.nyc and @delosgr.🍷
