We are pleased to announce our first round of 2023 muralists!

These four East Coast muralists deliver flair and vibrant hues with passion - their styles are distinct, powerful and are sure to leave viewers of their installations transfixed. Among them is @dinho_bento, a Brazil-born, Ottawa-based muralist known for his show stopping illustrations and unique interpretations of the nature and experiences that surround him. MILKBOX, known for their surrealistic and playful style of artwork from Montreal also joins us for a very special project within our festival this year that we can’t wait to announce.

Please join us in welcoming @dinho_bento @fleo_k6a @milkboxtheartist & @yasamanmehrsa to the 2023 BUMP Festival!

🎨Unveiling the official 2023 BUMP Festival muralists 🎉

Welcome to the sixth year of our mighty mural festival! We have spent the past few years beautifying the city, bringing in new ideas, and using public art as a vehicle to change the way a city can think, feel, and dream. To reflect this growth, this year at BUMP Festival we are immersed in the idea of PLAY.

In 2023 we think about PLAY as a theme to symbolize our belief that the city is transforming into a vibrant center for dreamers, builders, innovators, and creatives. We have curated a unique blend of art, events, and cultural programming with a vision to unite diverse individuals and foster an electric atmosphere that celebrates the power of imagination and collaboration. Our murals act as conduits to new modes of thinking, they introduce new characters and ideas through the magic of color and design. This year we are leaning into the bold, lively, spirited ideas that are bubbling in our city and invite you to immerse yourself in our world where experimentation and innovation collide.

This year our roster of muralists come from all over the world, with many incredible Calgary-based artists as well as those who are making their BUMP debut. We invite you to witness the magic unfold as this diverse range of talented artists come together to transform ordinary walls into extraordinary canvases. Each brush stroke, every splash of color, represents a step towards exploring new realms of creativity and expression. We are proud to host so many great muralists and invite them to celebrate the power of imagination and the limitless possibilities through art.

Please invite to the 2023 BUMP Festival:

@anaislera / @joseelaguita / @stuartteekasingh/ / @YasamanMehrsa / Malin / @dinho_bento / @seeroro_ / @hannaclare / @wosnan1 / @milkboxtheartist / @heyemilychu / @fleo_k6a/ / @bcanadien/ / @nikki.kuentzle/ / @joshcr8on / @dianeroe & @lemshl

Mark your calendars, gather your friends, and embark on the 2023 BUMP Festival journey this August. We intend to ignite your senses and passion for art - we want to activate Calgary in a truly remarkable way. Stay tuned for our full festival schedule of events 🙂

Disrupt, the street art festival organized by the @urbanartcollective.ca. This showcase is awesome, featuring work by a ton of local urban artists (tagged, save for @drippin_soul). If you can, donate or purchase something from this collective, their work is awesome and supporting local artists is an awesome and worthwhile initiative.
