We are delighted to share gallery artist Consuelo Jimenez Underwood’s two-person exhibition “Leading the Camino: Latinx Art by Juan de Dios Mora and Consuelo Jimenez Underwood” at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon.

The exhibition features prints by Mora and textiles by Jimenez Underwood that question borders and embrace living in the “borderlands.” Mora adopts figuration and humor to resist homogenization and contest political rhetoric that criminalizes immigrants. Jimenez Underwood embraces textiles to similarly cross borders and honor her hybrid identity as Chicana, Mexicana, Americana, Indigenous, woman, and artist. Her artworks bridge art and craft to examine geopolitical barriers and weave together bodies and traditions from past and present.

“Leading the Camino” is curated by Dr. Adriana Miramontes Olivas, Curator of Academic Programs and Latin American and Caribbean Art.

I've known Juan de Dios Mora, or as I call him, Mr. Mora, for several years now. He has been a great supporter and mentor. I am happy to have written a short story with @truchargv on his work.

‼️CHECK IT OUT‼️

“Opportunities” is a symbolic exhibition. Representing how our existence is worth more than we think. It’s easy to feel that we have no purpose, but within the last 12 years, knowledge, inspiration and opportunity has been passed down between generations. Silently encouraging artists to pursue their dreams (one Artist at a time). Special thanks to @dcpressworks, @metztlipress, & @print_matrix_space for providing the opportunity to exhibit.

Big, huge, enormous thanks to Mary Ann @mwhiteker and Jerry Whiteker who thought of the Museum when moving treasures out of Jerry’s law office. We are the recipients of 10 beautiful antique courthouse chairs, and sitting in our lobby and Allyson’s office will be much more comfortable for our visitors! Thanks also to our wonderful friend Andrew at Furniture Fetish @afurniturefetish for delivering them to their new home. Be sure to keep an eye on Furniture Fetish the next few weeks as other great items from the office find their way to the sale floor. The Museum is blessed beyond with thoughtful friends! #metlufkin #newtous #comesitaspell #bestfriends #treasures

Happy 10 year wedding anniversary to my partner @alanprints ! We met 13 years ago in the UTSA printmaking studio. Here are some photos taken a few months before we started dating and a couple of wedding photos.
I'm thankful to have such a kind and creative partner, who loves me and my family so much, and who cracks me up every day. We've been synced up and finishing each other's sentences for 13 years - which is simultaneously crazy it has been that long and also feels like we've always known each other! I always think it's funny if I hadn't gotten distracted and started pursuing a Sociology minor, it wouldn't have taken me 5 years to graduate and I would've never met Alán! It's a good thing I love to learn so much 😂

The first ever photos of us together, screen printing, taken by @batkayla 🩵
Wedding photos taken by @ajoymeredith 🧡
The first photo is the first ever @batprintsociety group photo from the inaugural semester 😄

Over the past quarter century, Glasstire has published more than 650 writers whose work has connected Texas’ art communities with each other. Critical Minded honors their commitment to cultivating a healthy and growing art ecosystem in Texas with smart, engaging arts journalism.

This past week, Glasstire’s online auction celebrated founding publisher Rainey Knudson’s vision and alongside the writers, supporters, gallerists, curators, and artists who have championed and sustained the publication since 2001. They celebrated this anniversary with a party in Houston filled with food, fun, drinks, dancing, and a fabulous auction of work by Texas artists who have written for Glasstire over the past 25 years.

Congrats @glasstire! 🥳🥂
