Went to see @tothegraveau in LA last night with a group of 10 or so animal rights activists. Former ALF activists who served extensive prison time for releasing thousands of mink from a fur farm and combatting the vivisection industry. Organizers from all over SoCal, some facing over a decade in prison for rescuing puppies from Ridglan Farms. People who have been kicked, punched, beaten, spit on, pepper sprayed, gassed, shot with rubber bullets, arrested, and ostracized by family, friends, and society, and who still dedicate their lives to protecting the most vulnerable and innocent beings on this planet.

We spend so much time speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves, so it’s such a nice break to watch a band that does the speaking for us. Through their art they pour out the grief, anger, and heartbreak so many of us carry, and that catharsis means more than they’ll ever know. Our favorite part of the night was when they threw a stack of @animalactivismcollective flyers into the crowd, urging people to join the movement. In my opinion they are the greatest animal rights band to ever bless the stage, and we appreciate them so dearly.

Recently I MC’d the @marchforanimals March To Abolish Animal Testing, where people walked hundreds of miles across New York to the gates of Marshall BioResources, with nearly 1,000 people there and the whole thing broadcast worldwide. Marshall is the largest breeder of dogs for experiments in the country. A former employee says they were told to inject dogs in the belly with euthanasia drugs and no sedation, and watched conscious dogs scream and thrash before being told to inject them again. They say healthy dogs were killed for cage space, or because their eye color or tail shape didn’t match what customers wanted. A former federal prosecutor has now sent a criminal referral to the Wayne County DA.

And this place has the audacity to call us terrorists. So I quoted this band and said to the live crowd, “They view us this way? Well, I have a question for you, Marshall BioResources. If we are terrorists for rescuing puppies, then what does that make you?!”

Ridglan Farms has officially shut down but did you know there’s still other dog testing facilities???

Marshall BioResources in North Rose, New York is now the biggest remaining commercial supplier for laboratory dogs.

Oak Hills Genetics in Ewing Illinois. It’s reported they have shipped approximately 1,467 dogs to 44 laboratories between January 2025 to June 2026

And many more. Humane World for Animals says there is approximately 250 US companies and institutes using dogs in experiments each year.

We are at a pivotal moment in history. We cannot wait quietly until abusers are ready to change. We must demand change NOW.

The COMPACT Act is a bipartisan bill that was recently introduced to remove NIH funding for experimenting on companion animals.

It’s time for @mbr__usa to cease their mass breeding operation and switch to a new business model, for @urochester to invest in the transition to modern research methods, and for @repclaudiatenney to stop accepting buyouts from Marshall and stand with the people against cruel and outdated animal experiments.

Meanwhile, law enforcement still hasn’t intervened on behalf of the millions of chickens facing criminal abuse and neglect at Perdue facilities every year. They’re suffering and dying while agencies like the NCRIC instead focus their investigatory and prosecutorial resources on nonviolent animal rights activists.

How Are We, Really? A Guided Discussion on the Animal Rights Movement

Alicia (she/her) has been an animal rights activist for over a decade with a focus on open rescue and animal care. She stood trial and was acquitted for rescuing two chickens from a Foster Farms transport truck and gained national attention as Glue Girl after gluing her hand to the court at a Timberwolves game to protest mass chicken killings. Known lovingly as a chicken whisperer she shares her home with rescued pugs, bunnies, a turtle, a potbelly pig, cats, and chickens. Alicia does not just talk about animal liberation. She lives it in every corner of her life.

Almira (she/her) is the lead organizer of Direct Action Everywhere, a grassroots network of animal rights activists working to achieve revolutionary social and political change for animals in one generation. With over a decade of experience in the grassroots animal rights movement she brings the kind of knowledge, fire, and strategic vision that this movement runs on.

Together they will guide a raw and honest conversation about where we are, where we are going, and what it really takes to sustain ourselves and each other in this movement for the long haul.

The Kind Hearted Campout is an annual all-inclusive vegan community convergence held at Harrison Serenity Ranch on Palomar Mountain, California. Now in its sixth year. Arrive Thursday. Depart Sunday. Just show up with your tent.

We are calling on Wayne County District Attorney Christine Callanan to prosecute Marshall BioResources for criminally abusing many thousands of animals in her backyard.

At MBR, there are over 16,000 dogs, as well as thousands of ferrets, pigs, and cats, who wake each day to lives of suffering. They spend nearly every moment of their existence at MBR in cages. Some of them are trained to wear inhalation masks so they will comply with toxicology research in laboratories. Others are killed shortly after being born because they are considered nonstandard. For example, a whistleblower remembers a puppy being killed for having two different colored eyes. Her body was incinerated.

Dogs are thrown like frisbees. Necks are stomped on. One dog struggled so much during “inhalation mask training” that her heart stopped beating. She died.

DA Callanan, we are begging you to put a stop to this. We need to get these animals out and place them all in loving homes.
