#REPOST from @okiniwak NATIONAL WEEK OF ACTION OCTOBER 27, 2026 PARLIAMENT HILL, OTTAWA We call on First Nations communities and leadership, environmental organizations, labour unions, grassroots organizers, supporters, and allies to stand together against Bill C-39: Building Canada Strong Act. We will be gathering on Parliament Hill beginning October 27 at 2pm for a National Week of Action. As Bill C-39 advances, we are deeply concerned about its implications for First Nations rights, Indigenous jurisdiction, environmental protection, and workers’ rights. The proposed legislation would expand federal authority to designate projects as ‘Regions of National Interest’, accelerating project approvals and exempting projects from environmental protections. At this rate, Bill C-39 is expected to receive roya assent by November. As First Nations people, this will have significant consequences for our inherent and Treaty rights, territories, lands, ways of living, and the future of our peoples. Allowing this bill to pass will affect us not only today, but for generations to come, if we do not act and exercise our jurisdiction. We have a responsibility to the next generation- to promise them healthy lands and to ensure they are respected as First Nations and Treaty rights holders. We are calling for solidarity across our movements to stand together to uphold First Nations jurisdiction, protect the environment, and defend workers’ rights. Please join this collective effort. Snapshots of yesterday’s direct action hit on GeoSpectrum Technologies in Peterborough, ON. As mentioned in our previous post, GeoSpectrum is not simply one of the dozens of Canadian companies that supply weapons components to Elbit Systems, the zionist entity’s biggest enabler and profiteer off of the genocide of the Palestinian people - it IS Elbit Systems, a wholly-owned Elbit subsidiary. Its seemingly benign appearance as a maritime technologies testing facility obfuscates the fact that it is the physical manifestation of Canada’s active role in the zionist military-industrial complex. Never forget that Elbit boasts that its weaponry is “battle-tested” on Palestinians. Palestine Action Canada says it is high time to SHUT ELBIT DOWN. On October 8th, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) held one of its biannual public meetings in Ottawa. During the Q&A period, a community member questioned the Board on its sustainable investment policy regarding engagement with companies believed to be involved in human rights violations. The Board was reminded that it has been aware, since at least 2021, of investments in companies that are listed by the UN as doing business in illegal Israeli settlements, and was asked whether it has actually engaged with these companies as per its own policy. The Board claimed that it “votes its proxies” whenever possible, but could not actually point to any meaningful engagement on human rights with the companies on the UN list. The Board’s excuse for not engaging with some companies was that the CPP’s investment is too small, and for others, that the company itself is too big for such engagement to have an impact. The CPPIB is not getting the “answers” it has claimed to seek from companies committing human rights violations, because it is not actually engaging with these companies. As a result of its refusal to engage, the CPPIB remains currently invested in 19 companies that are doing business in illegal Israeli settlements as per the UN. We will continue to demand CPP’s divestment from these companies, and we will not accept excuses for lack of engagement. CPPIB public meetings continue across Canada, with the next occurring October 14th in Winnipeg. Follow along via @justpeaceadvocates for updates from the meetings still to come.

BREAKING - In the early hours of Monday, October 12 2026, Palestine Action Canada targeted GeoSpectrum Technologies in Peterborough, ON. The GeoSpectrum Technologies site in Peterborough is not just a design and testing facility for "maritime surveillance and exploration" systems; it is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Elbit Systems, Israel's largest weapons manufacturer. There is no company that profits more off of the genocide of Palestinians.  Elbit supplies the Israeli Occupation Forces with 85% of their drones and land-based equipment, as well as electronic warfare systems, munitions and more, directly profiting from and enabling the zionist’s military regime, occupation, apartheid and genocide of Palestine. And our own settler-colonial state, so-called Canada, trades, buys, and invests in Elbit. Canada is Israel's sixth largest arms buyer and in turn sends critical components to the IOF. No proscription or terrorist designation is going to stop the global direct action movement from disrupting and dismantling the genocidal supply chain to the zionist war machine. The past three years have shown us that there is no justice to be found in halls of parliament or courts of law while children are being slaughtered in Palestine and Lebanon. From where we stand, in the imperial core, direct action is the only means through which we can justifiably answer the call of those under occupation and bombs.  We will not stop until Palestine is free!
