🎙️ Episode 184 – Part 2 Coming OUT Today.

What happens when learners love rules… but the language they’re learning barely follows any?

We dive into:
• Why English drives rule-focused learners crazy
• How metacognitive skills change everything
• What happens when L1 logic clashes with L2 flexibility
• My own struggle learning Chinese connectors (yes… starting a sentence with “because” 😅)

This isn’t just about grammar.

It’s about how our brains try to control chaos and how great learners learn to navigate exceptions instead of fearing them.

If you teach in Asia…
If you coach IELTS/TOEFL students…
If you’ve ever said, “But teacher, what is the rule?”

🎧 Listen to Episode 184 – Part 2 today on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and all major platforms.

Because sometimes the real growth begins when the rule stops working.

That eureka moment when struggle turns into clarity?
That’s not luck. That’s cognitive science at work. 🧠⚡

In Episode 183 (Part 1), I sit down with James Perucca to unpack why the hardest learning moments become the ones that stick and how relevance, frequency, working memory, and long-term memory shape everything in language acquisition.

If you’ve ever thought, “Why did I forget that?” this episode is your answer.

On may 3rd I had my Master Graduation recital. I can't express how surprised and happy I was at the moment that I went to the stage and saw sooooooooo many people in the audience. Having you all there was the best part of the show. Now that this chapter is coming to an end all I can't express how thankful I am for how everything has been, for all the ups and downs and that everything that has happened in my life has been a learning experience. Thanks to Yerin, April and Polina for such a wonderful playing, I had a really wonderful time working and making music together l. Special thanks to my teacher Lee Allen for your unconditional support and for giving me the pleasure to perform together during such an special occasion. I'm really excited about all the good things that are coming. 3 phrases that have accompanied me along the way are "get the dirty job done(practice the things you don't like to)", "trust and enjoy the process" and no Matter how cliche it might sound but "hard work pays off".
