And that’s a wrap on our @amsterdamdanceevent! 💛

From exploring the music behind brands at Sonic DNA to putting sync managers to the test, meeting new people and catching up with old friends over drinks at Pulitzer’s. It’s been a busy one, but we’re ending our week with full hearts and fresh inspiration.

These past few days have been a lovely reminder of why we enjoy being part of this community so much. So, a big thank you to everyone who joined us, shared their ideas, asked questions or simply dropped by to say hello. It means a lot.

Here’s a little look back at our Amsterdam Dance Event. You can find more via the link in bio.

A supervisor loves your song. Then they find out they have to call 5 people to clear it. 🚫

Here’s how to make your song easy to say yes to, from Claudia Campos Jugo at @disco.ac 👇

The problem
Supervisors work fast. If clearing your track means chasing every writer and producer, they’ll move on to a song that’s easier to clear.

The fix
1️⃣ Log every split. List each writer and producer with their ownership percentage on the track.
2️⃣ Get a pre-agreement. Before you pitch, agree with your collaborators that if a supervisor comes calling, one of you can say yes.
3️⃣ Label it. Add “One Stop,” “Easy Clear,” or “Pre-Cleared” so supervisors see it right away.
4️⃣ Make yourself findable. Put your email and phone number in the comment field, because that’s where supervisors look.

The tool
DISCO embeds all of this into the file itself. No extra emails, no Google Sheets. And just using it tells supervisors you take sync seriously and speak their language.

Want the full DISCO walkthrough plus a 2-week free trial? Comment SYNC and we’ll send you both. 📩

Save this for the next time you finish a record.

If a supervisor asks for 4 songs, send 4. Not 20.

Claudia Campos Jugo from DISCO on how to pitch a music supervisor so they actually listen: put the brief title in your playlist name, write a short note that says exactly what you’re submitting for, and put your email and phone number in bold so they never have to guess where a track came from.

Supervisors get hundreds of songs per brief. Make yours the easy one.

Comment SYNC and we’ll send you the full DISCO walkthrough.

I’ve always said tech should take the boring stuff off our hands, not the creative part.

Over the last few months I’ve come across a few companies doing exactly that. I’ve spoken to some of the people behind them, and they genuinely love music, musicians and community.

DISCO, Laylo, beatBread, HyperTribe and Vandall. Nobody’s paying me for this. I just hope it’s useful to you.

Music Supervisors — how many of you use DISCO? 👀

THIS IS NOT AN AD! I honestly don’t know how I’d keep track of everything without it. I’ve got so many songs coming at me from artists, labels, publishers and producers, and DISCO gives me one place to organize it all, search, build playlists and find what I need when a project calls for something specific.

And that metadata? Have to have it. When I’m looking at a song, I need to know who owns it, who controls it and how to clear it.

Organization is a HUGE part of the gig.

If you’re pitching music for film & TV, learn DISCO now. There’s a reason so many of us use it.

Follow @djburtblackarach for more tips + conversations. 🎬
