Champak at Skinny Mo's Jazz Club

What began as four friends sitting around a table with some tea, a toy keyboard, two guitars and a pair of drumsticks has since evolved into Champak—a multi-city bedroom pop and alternative rock outfit rooted in friendship, curiosity and a shared love for making music. Blending experimental, dreamy and deeply personal songwriting, the quartet has built a sound shaped by the distinct sensibilities of its members and a collaborative spirit that thrives on controlled chaos.

On the A1 Since Day 1 Tour, Champak members Shoumik, Lakshman, Aditya, and Aman bring their eccentric musical identity, visual brilliance, and their debut album – A1, to your city. Catch them live to get the full, excellent experience on their first tour as a band.

The river is not just a blue line, it carries with it memories, histories, lives and livelihoods.

How do we experience these stories? What does the river smell like? What is around it? What does it make us feel?

Through 'Have you ever tasted a river', we invited participants to engage with the many stories a river is brimming with.

A rich repository of work built over 10 years and 7000+ kilometres of river walking by @veditum and @movingupstream fellows was brought alive through a multisensory experience where food was both medium and archive.

Hosted at @theredbarikolkata, Megha - @spirals_and_circles, a food practitioner and creator of @goblette_gobbleworthy, along with Subha - @subhabrata_26, a multidisciplinary artist, in collaboration with Siddharth - @dreamersid, wove together these stories into an edible installation. Each element carried a provocation - about riverine landscapes, riverine beings and human interventions that are changing life around rivers. Participants meandered along the edible river, tasting and smelling stories from the Veditum archive.

This is how the river came alive.
