At Detroit Creator Weekend, I came expecting to learn from creators. What I didn't expect was the recurring theme I kept seeing everywhere: Couples Who Create.

From couples leading panels, to couples capturing headshots, to a husband filming while his wife taught a workshop, I witnessed partnership in action.

As I reflected on the experience, I realized this wasn't unique to the conference. Detroit has long been powered by couples who build together through art, business, food, fashion, wellness, technology, and community.

I attended through a scholarship from Black Tech Saturdays, an organization founded by a couple whose shared vision continues to create opportunities for others.

This project is a tribute to the creative partnerships that help move our city forward.

✨ Creativity is powerful.
✨ Community is powerful.
✨ But creating together may be Detroit's secret sauce.

It’s been one month since we officially introduced the concept of METAL FEET to the world.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Introducing Metal Feet film and live showcase at @michigancentral during Detroit Month of Design. The love and support have meant more to me than words can express.

A special thank you to all of my friends who collaborated with me to bring this vision to life. Thank you for sharing your time, energy, creativity, and talent with this project. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. None of this would have been possible without you.

To my family, thank you for always being there, believing in me, and giving me the confidence to continue doing what I love. @yolandawlms, you and the boys are my greatest source of inspiration. I thank God for you every day.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to create, collaborate, and share something so personal with the world.

A little drizzle didn’t phase our fall celebration!

DRIBBLING & DONUTS was back for another year at CURTIS JONES PARK featuring cider and donuts, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, and NEW this year: a pumpkin carving contest!
 The winner won FOUR lower-level seats to a Pistons game this season!

Thanks to our awesome Cranbrook field hockey volunteers back again for the third year in a row!

We’ll be back in December for the last event of 2026: HOLIDAYFEST!

I made some pivots this year and God said “watch me work!” Working for the HOME team ONLY reset my entire nervous system. Producing events alongside my bae @rickwlms feels amazing and has truly stretched us in this season for the better. DETROIT INSPIRES THE WORLD ™️

Some conversations don’t end when the mic turns off.

Moderating “Building a Sustainable Business from Your Creativity” at the Detroit Creator Summit during the Detroit Creator Weekend reminded me why I love this work.

Yes, I ask questions. But for me, moderating has always been about something bigger, creating the kind of conversation that makes people think differently, share honestly and leave with something they can actually use.

Sitting alongside @erinondemand and @rickwlms & @yolandawlms from @distinctlife, we talked about turning creativity into business, staying true to who you are and the culture that shaped you, and building something that can actually last.

For over a decade, I’ve had the opportunity to step into rooms with a microphone and one belief:

The right conversation can change the room.

The shed at Curtis Jones Park.

It was a pleasure contributing this piece to the renovation of Curtis Jones Park. My signature pattern has become a visual language that I’ve carried across products, murals, and spaces over the years, but this project gave me an opportunity to push it somewhere new.

For the first time, I stepped away from the black I traditionally use and worked the pattern in blue. I can’t lie—I love where it landed. Sometimes a familiar language just needs a new color to say something different.

More importantly, over the past few weeks I’ve had the opportunity to really get to know the people behind @nwgoldbergcares and see firsthand the work they’re doing within this historic neighborhood. The vision @daw_washington and his team have for the community is something worth getting behind.

Public art means more when it becomes part of something bigger than the artwork itself. I’m grateful to have added my visual language to Curtis Jones Park and even more excited about what we can create together next.
