POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A moment to reflect. Literally. 😉

Looking back at what it takes to organise an expedition, I’m reminded that no big adventure is ever the work of just one person.

Buddies, mentors, partners, co-thinkers, and believers. People who challenge ideas, open doors, share knowledge, offer support, and sometimes simply remind you why you started in the first place.

I’m proud to have such incredible people and companies around me, and grateful for all the direct and indirect ways they contribute to this journey.

There’s still so much to discover, learn, and explore.

I can’t wait to see where the path leads next. Hopefully with even more NOVA Projects to come 🌊

Big thank you to @divesoft for believing in me before anyone else, @xdeep_dive_gear supporting us through the Exploration Support Programme, @chromexdivegear for the personalised tank straps, @bigbluetechnologies for bringing light into the darkness and @kissrebreathers

🌴 A day at Neptune’s! 🤿

Our IDC candidates took their training out of the classroom and into the water for a full day of practical sessions at Neptune’s.

From open water teaching presentations to DSD workshops and rescue practice, it’s all about building confidence, developing skills and preparing for their IE 💪🏼

With guidance from Course Director Nick Derutter ( @divesaga ) and IDC Staff Instructor Marta Vivenzo , followed by a well-deserved lunch!

Because becoming an instructor is about more than just knowing the skills it’s about learning how to teach them.

For more than 60 years, divers have pushed boundaries, explored farther, and demanded the very best from their SCUBAPRO equipment.

Some traditions are worth carrying forward.

#SCUBAPRO #DeepDownYouWantTheBest A diver in a wetsuit and mask is underwater in a cave, holding a flashlight. Nearby is an octagonal sign that reads "Stop. Prevent Your Death. Go No Farther." The cave environment is dimly lit, with rocky walls and formations.

🎙️ NEW EPISODE – The BiG Scuba Podcast | Episode 236

This week we are joined by Nick Derutter from DiveSAGA — underwater filmmaker, scuba instructor trainer, technical diver and cave explorer. DOWNLOAD 🤿👉https://open.spotify.com/episode/3tlOGwF5Yy8OBfUx0NJRnJ?si=45BOCnzXQWa7Bsb2CQWt1Q&utm_source=copy-link🤿

Nick’s diving journey started with a Discover Scuba on the Great Barrier Reef, but it certainly did not stop there! 🌊🤿

We talk about his journey into professional diving and instructor training, why he deliberately keeps challenging himself by learning new skills such as sidemount, and what draws him into cave exploration.

Nick also tells us about a recent expedition in Slovenia, where the team explored highly protected caves, collected scientific samples, investigated possible connections between cave systems and even discovered the bones of an extinct cave bear. 🐻

And then there is the filmmaking. Nick explains how his background in film eventually came together with diving, leading to his DiveSAGA YouTube channel and Scuba Science — using video to educate, explain and inspire divers.

There is also a fascinating conversation around diving education, safety, redundancy, buoyancy, technical thinking and the responsibility of creating good, factual content in an age of AI.

It is a conversation packed with diving, exploration, education and plenty to think about.
