𝗟𝗘𝗧’𝗦 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞 𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗧 𝗕𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗫𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬 / 𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗦𝗘𝗫𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬

This is by far the most personal and, in one way, most vulnerable post I’ve ever done. I’m solely sharing my own experience and want to raise more awareness of bisexuality / pansexuality.

I have a question: why is it that the queer community, which is supposed to be a safe, caring, inclusive space, is excluding a certain group of people: bisexuals. Especially bisexual women with a boyfriend. But identifying as pansexual seems to be more accepted. This is quite disappointing and confusing.

These thoughts have been circling in my mind for the past 6 years since moving to Berlin. This city is specifically supposed to be so openly queer, but why have I not seen any initiatives for bisexuals / pansexuals?

My ex-girlfriend used to say: “𝘐 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘱 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘮𝘢𝘯.” Yes, maybe I will. But maybe I’ll have a girlfriend instead, or a non-binary marriage, or no life partner at all, who knows? Who cares? Why does it matter?

When I met my boyfriend 2 years ago, it took me almost 1.5 years to accept it myself and to be proud that I didn’t give a shit about what others might think. At first, I was ashamed, wondering what people would think. Will I ruin my reputation? Will people still see me as queer, and because of this relationship, will they not? Just as if the previous me was an illusion. I sadly have internalized biphobia, just like many others out there. For example, I told people I had a partner because I was afraid of being judged if I said I had a boyfriend.

The internal process bisexual and pansexual people go through in these situations really does something destructive to your self-esteem and self-worth. One single comment can get stuck in your mind forever. “𝘖𝘩, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘺𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥?” or “𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘣𝘪𝘢𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘨𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨” or “𝘐 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘰𝘺𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥. 𝘈 𝘣𝘰𝘺𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥?!”. I’ve received comments like these frequently for the past 2 years.

Meet @dubbdack_ , the FLINTA* collective doing it up big for Berlin’s bi-pan community (and their associated allies). More on @dizko.world

Six years in Berlin and the group had never seen a party explicitly uplifting bisexual and pansexual DJs, so they built one. @giri.berlino x DUBBDÄCK this Friday in Neukölln goes back to back with their club night at @renate.berlin on Saturday, fully bi/pan lineups, tooth gems, flirt corners, everyone welcome. In our interview we talked about the importance of unadulterated FUN over pretension, community without gatekeeping, and what makes a room feel safe (it’s not the door). Full interview on the blog soon.

On today’s agenda: why did I make @dizko.world?

(Dizko in the App Store + link in bio )

I kept running into the same problem. I like going out and doing stuff IRL but I hated juggling 6 different apps and trying to find stuff on IG was distracting because I kept getting sucked into a scroll. So i built an app where I could just mainline events, and a single place to find different types of events in one place, (because we contain multitudes).

The other issue I had was planning a night out with friends, the group chat was messy and stuff would get forgotten or lost because it was mixed in with the rest of the chat, and I would forget stuff because it wasn’t on my calendar. So I built a calendar into the app that I could share with friends + add events directly to my google calendar so i wouldn’t miss events because i forgot they were even happening.

Things basically spiraled from there and suddenly I’m starting a company and building out a ton more features. Next up I’ll show how I actually did it and give you some tips on building apps of your own (it’s easier than ever…)

As always, you’re love on this video would be appreciated! Dizko is completely bootstrapped atp so I am trying to get the word out!

XOXO Zak

Share this someone you wanna go dancing with because I’m gonna help you get out more. It’s day one talking about my app @dizko.world on the timeline untill I hit 1,000 users. I built Dizko to solve a very basic problem, we’ll get into that tomorrow but today, allow me to just reintroduce myself.

Hi, I’m Zak, I’m a documentary photography who spent a decade working for magazines in NYC from around 2010-2020. I’ve also worked as a waiter, an art director, a college professor, and most recently as the “head of global partners” for a tech startup until I was laid off a few months ago. Now I’m using my new found freedom, technical skills, love of all things culture and nightlife, and I’m building out an app to help to solve the loneliness epidemic and save the world. I’ll be learning a lot of stuff along the way, and I’ll share it with you here, so follow along if you’re curious about vibe coding, growth marketing, deep tech LLM stuff, navigating a saturated market landscape, and just generally learning how to become a founder.

If you’ve made it this far you probably care about me IRL so I’m asking you as a favor to please get the word out! Download the app! Make an account and tell what’s broken! Do the things! It’s free…

If nothing else just, help me get the word out, don’t make me go back to corporate!
