After chatting almost 3 years ago about doing a party together, @dj__mist and I are finally doing it this Friday at @theloveinnbristol for a Public Affair x Lapse collab event 🤝 Jess is an absolute megababe, top dj and a super host whenever I come to visit her in Berlin. At last, I get to play alongside her for a 3hr warm up before @morelian 😈

And in other news … I will be opening the Centre Stage this year at @lovesavesthedayfestival 🤯 big thanks to @teamlove_productions for inviting me ❤️

FRIDAY - MOR ELIAN - BERLIN IN SIDE

Public Affair joins forces with Berlin-based Lapse for a special collaboration, welcoming Mor Elian alongside Lapse Records founder DJ Mist. Built on long-standing connections forged on shared dancefloors, from Bristol to Berlin and beyond, the night brings together artists whose paths have crossed organically over years, forming a close-knit, extended family rooted in deep, exploratory club music.

Mor Elian, now based in Berlin after a decade in Los Angeles, brings a deeply personal and textured approach to electronic music. Co-running the Fever AM label, her work moves fluidly between ambient electronics, early IDM, and hypnotic club forms as demonstrated on her recent debut album Solid Space on topo2. Written in the midst of her pregnancy, the record offers an intimate glimpse into this world that carries through into her immersive DJ sets.

Joining her is DJ Mist, a boundary pushing selector emerging from the UK and Berlin underground. As founder of Lapse Records and co-curator of Wales’ Headroom Festival, Mist’s sound reflects a deep commitment to community, exploration, and forward momentum.

Further support from the Public Affair camp comes from founder Monika Taneska, whose recent appearances alongside artists such as Modeselektor, Carl H, and Priori reflect her growing presence as a selector rooted in deep, psychedelic, and percussive club sounds.

Get To Know: DJ Mist

Operating between the UK and Berlin, @dj__mist (fka Jessica) has built a wide-ranging career across DJing, curation, label work and long-running cultural projects. Whether behind the decks or working behind the scenes, their focus has always been on building spaces, platforms and connections within underground club culture.

With @lapse_records , Mist has developed a catalogue and platform rooted in the club, showcasing forward-thinking music from artists including Adam Curtain, Mariin, Len Lewis, Los Primos, DJ Gonzo, Sasha Zlykh and more. Beyond the label, Mist is co-founder and curator of Headroom Festival (@headroom.dance) - an intimate gathering set in the Welsh countryside that prioritises inclusivity, care and community, as well as previously developing their earlier female-led Rhythm Sister initiative, founded in 2016.

As a DJ, Mist has appeared at internationally respected festivals and events including Love International, Kala, India’s Magnetic Fields and Gottwood, while maintaining a strong connection to radio, most recently with ‘Bristol To Berlin’ on Noods Radio - a show exploring the musical, cultural and sociopolitical links between the two cities since relocating to Berlin five years ago.

For the upcoming Lapse x Public Affair party with Mor Elian, Jess goes B2B with PA founder Monika Taneska; the result of years of shared dancefloor experiences together. Come join us at @theloveinnbristol 23/01

For Viscera 137, @dj__mist is welcomed to the series!

“The boundary pushing force behind Lapse Records and Headroom Festival, Mist presents a wide-eyed vision for the dance from Bristol to Berlin by bridging a love of house, electro and techno past and present into more eclectic UK club styles.

Hybrid electronics, 2step leaning minimal and astral wigglers intersect under Mist & longstanding involvement in the scene with precise and technical dexterity behind the decks. Liquefying 30+ years of dance music into timeless voyages make evident the decade of immersion in clubbing as a music nerd and mainstay DJ under previous monikers. With bookings at a collection of UK and EU clubs, festivals such as Love International, Magnetic Fields and Gottwood, and a deep archive of appearances on Rinse FM, Ransom Note, HOR Radio, Sub Club++

Founded in 2021, Lapse Records serves as an extension of Mist’s moods and grooves, using the label to platform artists exploring vital iterations of their sound. So far this includes Len Lewis, Sasha Zlykh + Troy & Trippsy, Adam Curtain, Los Primos (Cosmic JD & Aaron Santos) and DJ Gonzo & Dr Yes (Patrick Klein & Michael Melchner)

With their own productions in the pipeline and exciting shows on the horizon, the future feels exciting for this passionate selector.”

Kick back and enjoy!
