Meet the DJ selectors bringing the sound For The People this Sunday, May 17 from 4-8pm ➡️

@__hameedullah Hails from Chicago. An educator, beatmaker, and DJ, Hameedullah takes and blends from his disciplines to create music and experiences that are uniquely his own. Under his label Lunt and Oglesby, the artist’s passion for vinyl, DJ’ing, and electronic music is platformed and championed through his self-released projects, inventive programming, and YouTube content. A staple in Miyagi Records' community, Hameedullah teaches and mentors Chicago's emerging DJs with their intro level 101 course.

@lyn.3v3 & @maritza31_ are rising DJs from Chicago known for their high-energy reggaetón mixes and global sound. Proud of their Mexican heritage, this dynamic duo brings underground music to the forefront, blending Latin rhythms with international beats. Their sets are a celebration of culture, community, and pure dance-floor energy.

@sulyiman_ believes in liberated bodies communing collectively on dance floors, as he blends rhythmic house music to connect people throughout the diaspora.

@dj_malcolmflex Atlanta native, and Chicago resident Malcolm Flex digs deep in his bag to present a mixture of techno grooves paired with a soulful release of house, afro-jazz and beats. He approaches every set as an opportunity to craft new narratives, taking listeners on a sonic journey that transforms dancefloors and community spaces into a realm of expressive freedom.

Join us as we honor the revolutionary origins of techno with an open forum on techno’s Black history, a hands-on DJ workshop, and techno afterparty!

Techno was built by Black artists, shaped by Black experiences, and carried forward by innovators pushing sound beyond its limits. This night is about reclaiming techno’s Black, revolutionary history and spirit, bringing people together in collective resistance and joy, giving credit where it’s due, and ensuring that techno’s radical Black roots are never erased.

The night kicks off with an open forum on techno’s history—its birth in Detroit, its deep-rooted Black revolutionary spirit, and how its sound continues to inspire newer generations.

Next, step behind the decks in a hands-on DJ workshop to learn the fundamentals of vinyl mixing - beatmatching, bending time, and keeping the pulse alive.

Then, stick around for an afterparty hosted by Malcolm Flex, spinning his signature Techno Soul sound in homage to techno’s originators — full of rhythm, resistance, and soul.

Join us to resist through movement. See you on the dance floor!
