THIS FRIDAY! SEPTEMBER 11th!

🔥FLAME PRESENTS:🔥

THE SPIRIT OF ‘66!
Vintage Vinyl Dance Party!

W/ DJ ACTION SLACKS @djactionslacks

TIME - 8 pm to the Midnight Hour
WHERE - The World Famous Kenton Club
ADMISSION - $10-$20 sliding scale (cash or Venmo)
21+

Get your KICKS like It’s 1966!
Usually my Kenton Club parties are on first Saturdays but I had a scheduling conflict so THIS first party of my indoor dance season lands on a second FRIDAY.

We danced our way into summer by celebrating the 50th anniversary of dance records from 1976. NOW, we’ll flip into Fall by celebrating the 60th anniversary of dance records from 1966!

Flame: Vintage Vinyl Dance Party blazes back onto the Portland nightlife scene with The Spirit of ‘66! The year 1966 was historic for hot dance records made for Go-Go nightclubs and discotechs!

Let me swing you into ‘66 with sizzlin’ sides by the likes of The Ikettes, Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, Gladys Knight & the Pips, The Kinks, Brenda Lee, Wilson Pickett, Lulu, The Creation, The Supremes, and SO many other legends and shoulda-been-superstars!

Familiar Faves and Rarities!

As always, we gather in love, lift each other up, and recharge our souls as we take a break from the troubles of the day and get lost on the dance floor!

Dress in threads that invoke the spirit of the event (however you choose to interpret it.)

Like most DJ Action Slacks dance parties, this event is open to all kind-hearted people, but is geared toward the Portland LGBTQmunity & its allies

Next week, we’ll be getting to know Portland’s own @djactionslacks! As the host of the @xrayfm Respected LadyLand radio show, she’ll talk about her experience as a queer DJ doing this for a living, and how mix tapes launched her career as a radio host and party producer.

Join the conversation, stay for networking and snacks!

Side note: I should have called this one “Slacks and Snacks”… next time. 😆

I don’t have time to put together anything fancy or even process this loss of my #1 celebrity influence/inspiration.

I just know how much Dolly means to so many of us.
I want to provide a space for us to gather in her honor tonight, feel our feelings, listen to her music, whatever you’re feeling.

I’ll be spinning tunes from my Dolly collection on my turntables. If you have any Dolly on VINYL released after 1980 and there’s something you want to hear, feel free to bring it to me for a spin.

***if anyone wants to help me carry equipment to my car at the end (let’s say sometime between 11-midnight) I’d greatly appreciate it. Because this is last minute I have to bring all of my own heavy equipment & soundsystem

This is a free event

It’s not all sugar, butter and chocolate in the tent for The Big Portland Bake Show. We’ve also got grooves!

DJ Action Slacks will join us Saturday, 8/29 from 2:30pm - 5pm.

Through radio (KAOS, KMHD, XRAY.fm) and live events, DJ Action Slacks spins vintage vinyl for modern times in a variety of genres though she specializes in midcentury dance records from around the world (1950s-1970s). Her sets uplift while connecting listeners to the historical moments that shaped the present, sharing the stories of under recognized musicians who helped mold our culture.

And beyond all of that, at the most basic level, she just loves to GROOVE you! (And she will!)
