Djimon Gumbs🇻🇬 wrapped up his season with a best throw of 17.78m for 5th place in the shot put finals of the Santo Domingo 2026 CAC Games in the Dominican Republic 🇩🇴

Frustrated with his attempts at his second appearance at the CACs, Djimon who won the bronze at San Salvador 2023, and had a decent run for 2026, vows to use the off season to go back to basics and refocus for the new season.

“My season was slow but I definitely learned a lot - about balance, about getting your priorities in order - but I am grateful that I was over 19.0m again and I know I am capable of doing much more.”

Commonwealth Games - Djimon Gumbs

Team BVI only had 2 athletes make it to the finals - and this powerhouse was 1. Djimon delivered when it mattered most. He heaved an 18.49 round 1 throw for a 5th place finish and then concluded his appearance with a distance throw of 18.45m. Finishing 9th overall - Djimon proved that he is indeed BVI's strongman while spinning his way into the history books.

What an incredible experience and a historic showing as the first BVI athlete to qualify for a Commonwealth ShotPut final. We couldn't be prouder.
