And just like that, the Strictly Silk Events Lab: Malindi Edition is a wrap! 🥹🫶🏾

Three days of learning, questions, shared experiences, new perspectives and, most importantly, community.

A huge thank you to @djmissray_ for collaborating with us and helping bring the Malindi creative community together for this experience. To our incredible facilitators, thank you for generously sharing your knowledge, expertise and time.

And to every participant who showed up with curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, ask questions and engage: you made this Lab what it was. Watching you think beyond the creative work and explore what it takes to build, sustain and grow your craft reminded us why creating spaces like this matters.

We leave Malindi with full hearts, new connections and even more conviction in the value of investing in our creative communities.

Here’s to more learning, more collaboration and more rooms where creatives can grow together.

This is #StrictlySilkEventsLab, and it’s a wrap! 🙌🏾

Day 2 of the Strictly Silk Events Lab: The business behind the creativity. 🧾✨

Yesterday, we got into the conversations that every creative and event producer needs to have: budgeting, tax, fundraising and intellectual property.

From keeping the books in order and understanding tax obligations to navigating grants, approaching sponsors and protecting creative work, our facilitators brought valuable insights to the room.

And the questions? Plenty! Because creating memorable experiences is one thing, but building the structures that allow your craft to grow and thrive is another.

We love seeing our participants think beyond the creative work and into the business of making it sustainable.

Day 2 was full of learning, questions and shared knowledge. Now, onto Day 3! 🫶🏾

Day 1 of the Strictly Silk Events Lab ✨

And just like that, we’re underway.

Yesterday, we got into the building blocks of creating events that people actually want to show up for; from PR & branding and marketing to event curation and social media for events.

But the best part? Hearing what the participants were already taking away.

From learning how to position themselves strategically, to building an online presence that can help them reach the right audiences and drive attendance for their events, there was plenty to take into the next stage of their work.

Day 1 was about laying the groundwork.

Today, we keep building. 👀

Finally, starting to share some memories from @queer_ranch_festival 2026 🫠
I know, I know, it’s been 3 months…. But it’s too overwhelming - soooo many photos, even more videos and very less free time 🥲

Promise, I will soon edit videos into ig reels about the work and festival itself :)
