Bart is my new nemesis. He must be stopped. Charlie Jane was delightful. Bart needs such a smack. >>> Posted @withregram • @frictionseries ⏪ #AWP25 RECAP PART ONE

📚🎞️ It was a fabulous time at our panel “From Prose to Screen and Back Again” featuring Charlie Jane Anders (@charliejaneanders), Hart Hanson (@hartdhanson), and Bart Nickerson (@yjbnickerson)!

Dani Hedlund thinks of #editing as a kind of midwifery. I think of giving feedback as an act of love, so of course I had to get a portrait of us. Here’s to the #editors who use their hearts to guide #writers as they find the heart of their work. #AWP25 #WritingCommunity Two women, Dani Hedlund (left) and Alexandra Hidalgo (right), pose and smile together. There are green and white booths behind them and a sign that says Friction Lit.

“As an #editor, I love it if someone has a #film background because I know they know how to collaborate and that they’ll get things done.” Dani Hedlund at the uproariously funny and generative “Prose to Screen & Back Again” panel she moderated at #AWP25 #WritingCommunity A woman, Dani Hedlund, sits at a table with a microphone in front of her. She is speaking, and using her hands to gesture. It is daytime, and she is inside. Behind her the wall is gray.

I think this ‘wildside’ vibe of The Moon card is perfectly captured in the Brink Literacy Project‘s #LiteraryTarot where @dmhedlund chose to pair The Moon card with Alice In Wonderland, as “this card pushes you – like Alice – to lean into your intuition in order to navigate the confusing or deceptive new situations you venture into”.

I love Alice heading down the rabbithole here, as she heads into curiouser and curiouser worlds.

“When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen’s off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head”

– From ‘White Rabbit’ by Jefferson Airplane

Let’s not forget that though Alice fell down the rabbithole accidentally, she then purposefully went on to explore Wonderland. Sometimes the energy of The Moon card is something that you want to feel as Jen Cownie & Fiona Lensvelt explain: “you might want to dance naked and free in the moonlight. You might want to let your subconscious roam for the night. That is alright too. The Moon would never judge you for that”.
