Quality recording, mixing and mastering services are becoming more rare as the years go on. Predatory pricing, corner cutting, and automated mixing & mastering services are threatening our industry.

Music used to start with passion, not profit margins. But the world changed. We’re making something that feels real again.

The process is of making art is what should be celebrated most.

Whether you’re a band looking to track your next album, or a solo artist looking to have their single mixed, Studio Yelo will make it more than a session.

This is a space for serious creatives to have their art taken seriously.

Remote mixing & mastering services also available.

There’s this profound transmission of alchemy that comes as a result of placing multiple artists, in a space meant to create. The bouncing off of ideas, the synchronicities of timing, and the encouragement of one artist, pushing another, into their own element.

It’s a reminder that to be a creative is not a solo act, any artist knows the power of working till 2am, in the quite darkness, sitting on the border of what all humans need (rest), and what exists within the potential of the artist. The familiarity of this feeling that to not seize that idea, that energy, at that moment, is to let it slip into the abyss, to give it life becomes a need greater than the need for sleep. This time spent in the studio helped me to understand that to create in community means no idea is fleeting, it doesn’t demand to be seized because it’s no longer just one mind that can hold it, that flow isn’t tunnel visioned, it starts and stops, increases and decreases. Creativity is a thing of abundance and like the word itself it is made with a dance, performed by the duality of what doesn’t exist and an idea, there and only there, you can squeeze order like a juice from the acidic core of chaos.

Lost in the music, found in the moments.🎤🎸 Brian Hewlett is wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans, and a tan cap is walking across a dimly lit street at night, carrying a black guitar case. The streetlights cast a warm glow, and a car with headlights on is visible in the background. The image has a vintage, grainy aesthetic.

Watching YYC’s art scene grow is what we live for. Nights like the Halloween event are exactly what motivated us to built this second location. This is such a vibrant and diverse city, and as Calgary locals ourselves, we are so proud to give back where we can.

To everybody who showed up and showed what they got - thank you!
To those who showed up for their first time and met some new folks - you’re always welcome!

For us it’s never been about the profit. There are certainly more monetarily profitable industries. This industry, however, is profitable in the way of purpose, and so long as we can help push Calgary’s scene forward, we’ll be here Serving Artists Dreams. #SAD #yyc #calgary #alberta #yycliving #yycnow #calgarylife
