So far downwind season is still in full swing in Maui. We’ve been getting great runs even with big ground swells or super light wind days. Maybe it’s just that everyone is getting better, the gear is getting better, or both. I’m loving my new gear and I’m stoked whenever I get to go downwind with other addicts. I appreciate all those that let me tag along 🙏❤️

It was super fun to catch up and run with the Maliko/harbor crew this weekend. I swear they’re all magicians. I can leave Maliko before them, have a great run, and when I foil up to the boat ramp they’re already there and washed off. Thanks to Randy @royse.randy and Ralf @mister_makani for the shuttles. Thanks to the whole crew for letting me tag along.

The water shots and video show how beautiful the water is, these are straight out of the GoPro and not enhanced at all. In the video don’t pay attention to the goofy guy on the board- look at the foil and the water. Turn the sound up and you can hear how the foil sounds like a jet sometimes.

If you’re learning how to downwind foil, keep it up! The freedom of riding in deep water with an endless selection of waves is unmatched 🙌 and you’ll find a place in a community that shares it with you. Also, even when you bring 40 friends, there are plenty of waves to go around! Shoutout to @hearndawgg / @oahufoil for getting so many people together that share this passion.

As far as gear goes, the DWP @armstrongfoils boards paddle insanely fast. Eight foot + with a width around 16in helps you get into swells easily. If you want to race, invest in a DWP wing. If you want to cruise and sit in the pocket of short period, short wavelength, windswells then the @armstrongfoils HA wings are the way to go.

We did the Full Maliko Run of about 9 miles👌
