My first appointment with my wonderful surgeon, @docjohnblaze, was in May and my teets could've been yeeted in July if I hadn't just gotten neutered.
So, shouts out to my chest turning that performance into a sensory nightmare. Whatever gives you the push to finally get the care you need, whether it seems silly to others or not, is beautiful.

Who decided what a healthcare professional is supposed to look like?

For years, medicine has carried an unwritten expectation that doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals need to look and act a certain way to be taken seriously. Tattoos, piercings, colorful hair, or simply showing more of your personality haven’t always fit that traditional image.

In this clip from The Confidence Doc®, Dr. John Brosious and Dr. Vinaya Rednam talk about challenging those expectations while healthcare itself becomes increasingly difficult to navigate, from declining reimbursements to the growing cost of running a practice.

Maybe professionalism isn’t about fitting a mold. Maybe it’s about how well you show up for your patients.

“I never thought as a plastic surgeon I would be saving lives.”

For Dr. John Brosious, some of the most meaningful moments in his career have come from transgender patients telling him exactly that: you saved my life.

In this clip from The Confidence Doc®, Dr. Brosious shares why those words have become such a powerful motivation to continue providing gender-affirming care, even when the work faces criticism from the media, institutions, or people who simply don’t agree with it.

For him, there is no greater gift than knowing the impact his work has had on a patient’s life.

Уявіть: приходите на консультацію до пластичного хірурга, а він повністю забитий татуюваннями 👀

Це для вас норм чи одразу було б якесь недовір’я? Бо багато хто досі очікує, що лікар має виглядати “по-класичному”.

He was the first to do it in Nevada.

A surgery most people don’t understand…
and most doctors won’t even attempt.

Months of recovery.
High risk. High pressure.

But for his patients…
it’s life-changing.

This conversation goes deeper than medicine, it’s about identity, purpose, and what it means to truly impact someone’s life.

He didn’t set out to do this…

But one decision turned into a purpose he never expected.

What started as curiosity became something much deeper, a moment that completely shifted how he sees people, care, and what it means to truly show up for someone.

And what his patient told him at the end…
that’s the part that stays with you.

They told him he was ruining his career…

But he understood something most people don’t, people don’t need perfect… they need someone who understands them.

Every day, his patients walk in already judged by the world. So he made sure they’d never feel that in his office.

This conversation goes deeper than tattoos.
It’s about identity, acceptance, and showing up as YOU no matter who’s watching.
