A year after we pitched what would eventually become our country’s first interactive XR film, we’re back.

BODY COUNT will have its world premiere at @idfafestival, where it will compete in the DocLab Competition for Immersive Non-Fiction, as @idfadoclab celebrates its 20th edition as one of the longest-running platforms for interactive and immersive documentary in the world.

Such a TREMENDOUS HONOR!!!!

We at Cannes Docs - Marché du Film are SO PROUD and absolutely over the moon to be receiving the 𝐀𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 at the upcoming 2026 𝐈𝐃𝐀 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬, on Dec. 4th in L.A. ✨

The Amicus Award is presented to individuals or organizations in recognition of their work supporting the needs of the nonfiction media landscape, and it comes as a perfectly unexpected and immensely rewarding acknowledgment of our achievements.

So for this, a thousand thank yous, @idaorg! 🙏

Headed by Pierre-Alexis Chevit since 2015, Cannes Docs operates under the leadership of @marchedufilm’s Executive Director Guillaume Esmiol, and is organized by the extraordinarily dedicated core team members @bab2tt2, @rittanova & @k100.dra. Other past & present amazing teammates include @louise.legay, @philippeisidorechatard, @louvesun, @theolaglisse, Axelle Jean, @mariaanaoneill, @christywhaibe, @g.geo, @chlogeneste, @william.degardin, @juliette.cba…. Thank you all +++, besties 💗

And OF COURSE, Cannes Docs wouldn’t exist without the brilliant collaboration of all our dear colleagues from @marchedufilm, making it all possible, year after year! Thanks, you guys! =)

A bit of history: Cannes Docs (then Doc Corner) was initiated back in 2012 by the visionary trio Jérôme Paillard, @bergeron_julie and Madeline Robert – with the key input of @nicoleguillemet –, as a concrete response to the clear need for a documentary-dedicated space within the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes, in the context of the accelerating extension of the doc industry.

Since then, the program has been able to steadily grow and establish itself thanks to crucial supporters such as the @fordfoundation (via JustFilms, then steered by the great Cara Mertes), @ieftf_org (𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬 𝘺𝘰𝘶 @marcoorsini, @liannellewey & team), and many, many more who believed in Cannes Docs – most of which are mentioned here below! 🌟

This Amicus Award is to be shared with all of you, dear friends, colleagues & allies from this beautifully unique doc community, who have been tirelessly standing up for the documentary genre, at Cannes Docs and everywhere else too!

Merci ! 💜
