And we are BACK! 🎭✨ The start of the 2026–27 academic year marks my 9th year on faculty at @cmudrama, my 5th year as Chair of the Acting & Music Theater Program, and my 2nd year as Co-Artistic Director & Founder of the CMU @centerfornewwork. Somehow, the beginning of a new year never gets less exciting. There is something pretty extraordinary about getting to come to work every day surrounded by brilliant young artists, world-class expert faculty, and colleagues who care deeply about the future of our field. At a moment when the performing arts continue to evolve, challenge us, and ask big questions about what comes next, this place is a daily reminder that the future is VERY bright. Our Acting/MT faculty have already been hard at work—continuing to examine, question, and evolve our curriculum so that we are preparing our students not simply for the industry as it exists today, but for the one they will help create tomorrow. We’ve welcomed our newest Actors & MTs—the Class of 2030 (!!)—the halls are filling back up, and @carnegiemellon is getting ready to launch into the fall semester on Monday. New students. New work. New ideas. Lots of questions. Probably too much coffee. ☕️ Year 9. Let’s make some theatre. ❤️

I have such fond childhood memories of doing this show at summer theatre camp. I know, odd show to associate with fond childhood memories, but there's something about this material that fulfills a really basic need if you’re an artistic teenager - you’re hungry for experiences that are provocative and show you where the edges are, and what it means to push past them and spark conversation about the dark things we're not allowed to discuss. When you're a kid just getting introduced to the idea that you can make a show like this, it's just like, "Whooaaa this is so cool, these people are so bizarre and unhinged, darkness is fun," but now with a few more years on me, I just can't get over how deeply sad and accurate it all is. This is what you get when you have an individualistic culture founded on the belief that we have a fundamental right to violence. These people aren't nuts, they're living out their own personal American dream to the fullest extent, trying to correct injustices real and imagined, drifting lost and voiceless inside a culture where the gun is the only universally understood language. And there's still a lot of riotous, punk-rock fun to be had in crossing the lines this show crosses, but I feel like nowadays we can hear the mass of men leading lives of quiet desperation louder than ever before. I'm so proud of @rogueartiststheatre for tackling this so brilliantly, and it's all the more special seeing my fellow childhood assassin @j.alexnoble still killing it just like he always has been, going all the way back to those heady summer camp days. Not to mention the entire cast and crew, all of whom making us laugh, shiver, and think. Professional Pittsburgh theatre is fully alive, scrappy as ever, and kicking butt and taking names. Don't miss this!

@ppumusicaltheatre and @pghplayhouse were where the idea for a company like RAT Pitt was originally born. Over a decade later, it’s only fitting that so many COPA students (@marshaaaaaaalllll), alums (@j.alexnoble @corwinisaprettycoolbro @aidanquartana @feduculis ) and former faculty and staff are involved with the inaugural production.

@artsbridge I cannot thank this incredible faculty enough, these past three weeks have been life changing for me in so many ways. I am more prepared for college auditions than I could have hoped to be right now and I have met my life long best friends here. I will carry what I have learned at this intensive with me as I continue my training and begin this exciting journey. Goodbye for now! ❤️ #redgroupforthewin #musicaltheatre #BFA #Igotsomethingyouwant

To our knowledge, of the nine assassins, only one of them worked with conspirators-John Wilkes Booth. Among his band of loyalists to the South was David Harold , who will be played by @marshaaaaaaalllll of @ppumusicaltheatre. Come watch this talented young man play this role and numerous others at The Greer August 20-23. @culturaltrust @cbspittsburgh @onstagepittsburgh @tablemagazine_westernpa
