🎃📚 October book mail is looking a little dark, twisted, and absolutely perfect for spooky season!

A little bit of everything arrived, and I couldn’t be happier with these additions to my shelves!

📦 Gifted by @ireadvintage

🌹 Perfume by Patrick Süskind: A man with an extraordinary sense of smell becomes obsessed with creating the perfect perfume. Unfortunately, his obsession takes a very deadly turn.

🍊 Nutshell by Ian McEwan: A story of betrayal and murder told from the perspective of an unborn baby who overhears his mother’s deadly plans. Now that’s a narrator you don’t come across every day!

📚 My October @aardvarkbookclub Order

🍄 What Feeds Below by Tatiana Schlote-Bonne: Two best friends explore a dangerous underground world filled with monsters and deadly plants. When one disappears, the other must venture deeper into the darkness.

🏚️ Solace House by Will Maclean: A group of university students clearing out an old Victorian mansion discover eerie journals suggesting the existence of another realm. Gothic horror, mysteries, and a house that sounds like trouble!

🍗 Carrying by Samantha Josephs: Martha, a transgender woman whose family doesn’t know she’s trans, discovers she’s somehow pregnant despite believing that impossible. Her pregnancy threatens the life she’s worked so hard to build.

🎁 Gifted by @dog.eared.disaster

💚 Mouth to Mouth by Antoine Wilson: After saving a stranger from drowning, a man’s life takes an unexpected turn when he becomes involved in the wealthy stranger’s world. A psychological story about obsession, ambition, and deception.

🥀 The Two Deaths of Lillian Carmichael by Paulette Kennedy: A woman sentenced to hang for murder is mistakenly declared dead and buried alive. When she escapes, she finds herself caught in another terrifying mystery.

A huge thank you to Vintage Books and @dog.eared.disaster for the wonderful gifts! 🧡

👻 HALLOWEEN QUESTION: A mysterious book appears on your doorstep on Halloween. Every chapter reveals a secret about someone you know, but the final chapter has YOUR name on it. Are you reading it or burning it? 🔥📖

One of the best things about this Booksta community getting to be a part of smaller groups that share their love of books. This stack of books came from my Birthday Buddies book group. The joy of getting books sent is really unmatched. Even my kids got excited. 😂

❓Which book do I read first? I want to read them all at the same time!

Thank you book friends! And thank you to @panic.at.the.bookstore_ for facilitating these groups! Your hard work is noted and appreciated!

My birthday was the 19th and I just got home from being away for almost a week. I had a bunch of packages waiting for me when I arrived. I’ve been receiving gifts all month long so with all of that plus what I came home to, I’m feeling like a very lucky girl.

Shout out to my bestie, my birthday book club, and other lovely friends for sending me these amazing gifts. I’m so incredibly grateful for this community and the people I’ve met because of it. Thank you all so much!! 🧁

Encore presentation.
As a mood reader I struggle to read the books my bookclubs assigned. So it’s hit or miss whether I’ll be prepared.

Have you ever shown up unprepared?

📖 Book Blurb:

When a young Queen’s Kingdom is overtaken, her people captured and her father’s treasure threatened, she will stop at nothing to restore her empire’s peace. With some unexpected friends, Queen Klarina must travel across Necassium to return the treasure to The Elders who are the only beings who can help her stop the rebellion. But with all the obstacles and doubtful feelings she experiences – will Queen Klarina be able to take back her throne?

2🄽🄳 🄷🄰🄽🄳 🅂🅃🄾🅁🄴 🄱🄾🄾🄺 🄷🄰🅄🄻 (from KY trip)

Hello friends! I am back yet again with another #bookhaul and this is the KY one I mentioned in a previous video. The book titles below are what we purchased from a 2nd hand job in KY while on our trip visiting my family. The shop was pretty busy and for some privacy reasons I decided not to film the inside but I can show you what we purchased which were 6 books! Two my hubby Austin picked and four I picked out.

The titles of those books are below and be on the lookout next week for another video where I share the books my mom sent me home with in those boxes and bags. Oh, and I can’t forget a very important part of being things home from KY – I finally got to pick up my mom’s 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐏𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 from my brother. I am super excited to look through those boxes and get that collection on one of my built-in bookcases. That will also be its own future video!

Hello friends! I’m back today with some 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗟 for ya!

I want to thank the lovely people over at @minotaur_books for this gifted copy of Jess Armstrong’s “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒍: 𝑨 𝑴𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒚”

After the Great War, American heiress Ruby Vaughn made a life for herself running a rare bookstore alongside her octogenarian employer and house mate in Exeter. She’s always avoided dwelling on the past, even before the war, but it always has a way of finding her. When Ruby is forced to deliver a box of books to a folk healer living deep in the Cornish countryside, she is brought back to the one place she swore she’d never return. A more sensible soul would have delivered the package and left without rehashing old wounds. But no one has ever accused Ruby of being sensible. Thus begins her visit to Penryth Hall.

A foreboding fortress, Penryth Hall is home to Ruby’s once dearest friend, Tamsyn, and her husband, Sir Edward Chenowyth. It’s an unsettling place, and after a more unsettling evening, Ruby is eager to depart. But her plans change when Penryth’s bells ring for the first time in thirty years. Edward is dead; he met a gruesome end in the orchard, and with his death brings whispers of a returned curse. It also brings Ruan Kivell, the person whose books brought her to Cornwall, the one the locals call a Pellar, the man they believe can break the curse. Ruby doesn’t believe in curses―or Pellars―but this is Cornwall and to these villagers the curse is anything but lore, and they believe it will soon claim its next victim: Tamsyn.

To protect her friend, Ruby must work alongside the Pellar to find out what really happened in the orchard that night.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒆𝒏𝒓𝒚𝒕𝒉 𝑯𝒂𝒍𝒍: 𝑨 𝑴𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒚” released December 5th 2023! Pre-order your copies now & get ready for this historical romantic mystery read!!

Hello friends & welcome back! Hubby & I are back home in PA! My #BirthdayTrip back to my home state of #Kentucky was such a blast & I already miss my loved ones so much! It had been way to long this time away. That won’t be happening again.

So, for our first full day back my hubby had the day off and I thought this would be the #Perfect time to complete another one of my 𝟭𝟬𝟭 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝟭𝟬𝟬𝟭 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀. (If you’re new & confused by that last bit please go here to understand. — https://www.instagram.com/p/CuCC5Gfg0Md/?hl=en

The completed task we did was “𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒑 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒅𝒊𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒄𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒏𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖.” And that is exactly what we did by going to a city a few towns over from us where our destination was a 𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗙 𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗗 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗦 ( @halfpricebooks )

Before going to our destination we wanted to get lunch. Our original place we found out shut down or closed which was sad. And so, we ended up at one of the 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 Chinese Buffet Restaurant’s I have ever been. The 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐭 & 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥 had it all & everything was full & hot – no containers were ever empty, no stale or burnt food. It was one of the best if not the best Chinese Food Experiences I have ever had.

I had never been to a HPB before and I can honestly say 𝐈 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐎𝐓 wait to return! I hadn’t even made a dent in the Fiction section AND I never even made it to the thriller section, can ya’ll before that?? #WhoAMI LOL!

Be on the lookout in the next day or so for my 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐇𝐏𝐁 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥’𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐮𝐥!

xoxo
