The hardest part of this journey is probably the doubt that kind of creeps in sometimes. But you have to keep showing up everyday. Believe in yourself and believe especially the people who believe in you…. I always remember my bad and worst races when I feel extremely exhausted or tired and called my friend athletes to get motivation and stay in the right way, keep moving forward and still learning from the people better than me, with confidence but with humble confidence! 🏊🚴🏃 #training#ironmantrainning#swim#bike#run

Everyone wants aero, but no one wants to do the work. This bad mother knows the secret to success. Thanks @dollcmd for coming in!

Balanced strength. Even mobility. A body that can hold a position, not just survive it.

That’s the green light🚦to get low and fast. We build it off the bike, then unlock it on the bike.

Fit the athlete, not just the bike. 🚴

@dollcmd lined up at Ironman Texas for her 14th full and this one tested her in every way.

Signing up just 2.5 months out, she put in the work and came in feeling ready until a shoulder strain 10 days before race day made even starting uncertain. She chose to show up anyway.

It wasn’t the race she imagined. She felt flat, battled through tough moments, and thought about stepping off the course more than once. But she didn’t. She kept going. And in the end Cristy surprised herself with a stronger finish than she thought possible, earning a third place age group podium finish.

This race humbled her, challenged her, and reminded her why she keeps coming back. Because sometimes the most powerful victories aren’t perfect days, they’re the ones where you refuse to quit.

My number one piece of advice for someone at Kona or another WC this fall. Be it your first or if has been awhile.
.
This morning I was chatting with a friend that is doing her first Kona after 10 Ironmans. She worked so hard to win her AG to qualify and finally did so in 2021.
.
I wanted to remind her of an important mindset hurdle that many athletes face when approaching the race that they have tried so hard to qualify for, including Kona, Boston and other WC’s that are traditionally not only STACKED with otherworldly strong competitors but also on much harder courses than where they qualified.
.
This is my “Ted talk” on how to handle this race that is different than the rest:
.
“Every other Ironman you’ve done it’s felt like you were focused on getting better (PR), getting that KQ and/or a podium spot.
.
This race is different. And some(many) people set themselves up for dissatisfaction and disappointment. They forget that there are no KQ’s, very few PRs (on this hard course) and the chance of a podium is only really possible for the top 5% of athletes.
.
Inevitably these athletes feel sad/disappointed/somewhat hollow that they didn’t have a successful race on this course.
.
But it couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s the WC on the most beautiful course in the very hardest conditions. So please realize that the WC is just not going to have those external validations that you have used to motivate you in every other Ironman you’ve raced.
.
And enjoy what you’ve worked so hard for.
.
Have your best race with a smile and without judging it against all those other races!” - Coach Shelly
.
If you have a friend racing a WC we would love if you gave this a share!
