Our restaurant made the list. 🤍

We’re so honoured to share that Nui is a finalist for @aircanada ‘s Best New Restaurants 2026!

When we opened our doors, we hoped to create a place where people could enjoy the Korean flavours we grew up with and feel like part of the family. Seeing our restaurant on Main Street recognized alongside such talented teams across Canada means more than we can say.

To our guests, friends and neighbours, thank you for filling our seats, bringing someone you love and spreading the word. To our team, thank you for the heart and care you bring to Nui every day. We wouldn’t be here without you.

We’re now in the running for the #AirCanadaTop10, to be revealed in November. We hope you’ll keep cheering us on as this fun and meaningful journey continues.

A little late, but I wanted to take a moment to look back on my time at June.

I was there from the opening, working through the long days, services, competitions, and events alongside great chefs.

I learned a lot, pushed myself, and shared the kitchen with people I have a lot of respect for.

Thank you to my chef & mentor @connorsprling , and everyone who was part of this chapter.

🆕-ISH! 🇰🇷 I finally made it to Nui @nuivancouver, meaning older sister in Korean, in Mount Pleasant, and I can see why this tiny neighbourhood spot has such a loyal following after only a year and a half (opened March 2025).

Chef-owner Jay Hwang @_jjhwang, who honed his skills at Maenam for eight years, brings traditional Korean flavours into a modern, minimalistic and refreshingly unpretentious setting. And a bonus, not everything tastes like gochujang, because as good as it is, guess what? Korean food is more than that.🫰🏻

The menu is tight, thoughtful and full of comfort, showcasing subtle and bold Korean flavours. Their signature gomtang, a humble, home-style clear pork bone broth with rice, is the kind of comforting, everyday Korean food that could easily be overlooked by those unfamiliar, but is exactly what makes it so special.

Some of my favourites are the tofu egg jjim and crispy seafood pancake jeon. Seasonal dishes keep things interesting, like the summer moolhwe with squid and an icy tomato-gochujang broth. Heartier options rotate and include a seafood rice bowl with lightly cured king salmon and roe, and galbi short rib with uni butter rice. The matcha and bokbunja (Korean fruit wine) slushy also go down too easily.

Everything feels modern yet familiar and made with care, without ever feeling precious; a restaurant style that feels homestyle. With fewer than 25 seats, Nui has the kind of independent, low-key charm I want to support and revisit. Korean food is having a moment, and restaurants like this are helping push it forward.

I’m already a big fan of Nui, so when I heard they were doing a collaboration dinner with Chef Jefferson Alvarez, I knew I had to check it out.

What I loved most was how well both teams brought their different styles together. Jefferson’s Latin influences paired with Nui’s modern Korean cooking in a way that let both sides showcase what they do best. Nothing felt forced, and every dish felt like a true collaboration. Every single dish was fantastic. 👏🔥

I also somehow managed to try all three of the event cocktails 😂🍸 and loved every one of them. Whoever was behind the cocktails tonight, I’m officially a fan. They were every bit as good as the food.

And apparently the Nui hat they gave me didn’t stay mine for very long… one of my bears stole it for the night. 😂🧢

Couldn’t be happier for @_jjhwang , @k.mcintosh & @dom_yun on another successful collaboration dinner and a sold-out night. Always great seeing good people doing well. Congrats, guys. 👏❤️

New favorite place unlocked 🙌🏼
We recently had the privilege of attending @marksingson's pop-up at @nuivancouver, and it was absolutely fantastic.
The Filipino-Korean inspired lunch service was a treat for the senses, with each dish offering a unique combination of flavors and textures.
NUI is definitely a spot we'll be returning to, especially to try the regular menu.
