angewandte festival '26

Graphic, Text: Barbara Knapp, Verena Müllner, João Luís Soares, Dominik Leitner

Proposal for the Angewandte Festival 2026 drawing on the principles of the Situationist International, a European artist group from the 1950s. They developed playful tactics to break up everyday routines in the city and stimulate new ways of experiencing space and social interactions. By blurring the line between play and life, our design takes a similar route and treats the city as a playground.

We prioritized producing the unexpected over the classical. Our approach is not colorful like previous years and intentionally irritating to arouse curiosity. The city acts as a symbol of diversity where different tonalities and voices are translated through the use of altering typefaces and typography.

melting jewels 03

this video is part of the project melting jewels.

it shows the melting process of the ice.
moe stood still for half an hour while the ice melted directly onto his skin, slowly turning it red.

it represents the human suffering caused by climate change, while also expressing the feeling of helplessness that many people may experience when facing its consequences.

big thanks to
@domdurbo for making video and
@moe_gly for being the model

melting jewels
this collection was created for a competition on the topic ‚climate action‘.

made from ice that slowly melts, it visualises the effects of climate change. the ice is shaped like oversized gemstones, highlighting how luxury and consumerism contribute to the climate crisis.

by attaching the ice to existing jewellery pieces, the project emphasises the importance of reuse, reminding us that using what already exists is an important step toward a more sustainable future.
