Little over a year ago still trying to get back. Listen to your body folks and don’t fight thru injury

I’ve been training with @thpstrength for the past 3-4 years. This is an update on how my training has been going in the last 3-4 months.

1. I got a personal training session from @ikeepcream, to fix my power clean form. Although my maxes have had to reset, I’m doing my Olympic lifts without spidering for the first time in my training. Highly recommend Josh as a coach.

200 lbs would be 1.2x bodyweight for me.

2. I tested a maximum vertical of 33 inches off both 1ft and 2ft plants. Around a month ago. Since then, I’ve been rehabbing my left knee, and I haven’t jumped over 31 inches in the subsequent month.

3. @johnevans_thp has been programming front squats last cycle and I was able to almost match my all time PR of 240 lbs, but at a lower bodyweight of 168 lbs. Compared to when I weighed 175 lbs last time I tested.

It’s a long journey, but I’m improving still, year over year.

What does it take to dunk a basketball? 🏀

The bare minimum max touch for dunking on a regulation basket is 10’6”.

For myself, that equals a 33 inch vertical jump.

Shout out to my Bay Area THP athletes, @domidunks, @wilvin_chew, and Ethan for hosting me this weekend in Menlo Park.

Great seeing the boys again after 9 months since I moved.

First time jumping with others from @thpstrength and the energy was a game-changer! Most days my grind is solo, so this was a blast getting to trade tips and pushing each other. Touched 10’7”, 31 inch vert! Easily my best jump day yet!
1 - 10’0”
2 - 9’9”
3/4 - 9’6”
5 - 9’2”
6 - 10’0”

I haven’t posted on social media in a long time… but I’m going to be coming back to it for the next chapter of my life.

2 years ago, I started training with @thpstrength. My vertical was 30 inches maximum with crippling knee pain.

Today, I’m at 36 inches - and for the first time in my life, I’m throwing down real dunks.

This video is a look back at the past year of work. Hundreds of jumps, 10 hours a week in the weight room and more misses than makes. But that’s progress.

Next stop: 40 inch max vertical.

If you’ve been following my journey in real life… welcome to the online version.

Also shoutout to my boys in the bay, Dominick and Ethan for supporting me on my journey and helping edit the videos.

First reverse dunks in the books ✅ (plus a couple other decent alleys). Shout-out the @thpstrength boys.

The ancient question pondered by the most cerebral of philosophers. Would you rather squat 700lbs or bench 400lbs? #gymlife #powerlifting #strength #fitfam #community

RECAP OF TODAY:
Tore the skin off my finger on my left hand (huh)
PR dunk off a lob on 9’6 (@domidunks told me go and get it, so I got it)
PR dunk off a lob on 9’8 (was the smallest tip dunk, absolutely stoked to practise it more)

@hoops_sports_performance
@sydneydunkers

Props to the boys for absolute banger of a session 🔥
