I love creating soundscapes for a song to rest upon. This song reminded me of a pastoral scene. I used camel bells, an Aztec death whistle, and seed pods to create a feeling of walking towards a distant scene consisting of a babbling brook, a light, cool wind rustling throuh the trees as animals with bells around their necks drank the refreshing water. This joined the bird sounds Donny had already recorded. Even before the song began, all of this had to be faded in for two purposes. 1. To draw the listener in to be ready to receive the music, and 2. To give the listener the feeling of walking down the valley towards this peaceful scene. Then I layered caxixis, an Aztec dance rattle, a jingle stick, a doumbek, and cajon to provide the groove for the song that could have just been bass, snare, and high-hat. Had a blast playing Eagles-Hotel California with talented Donny Van Slee (The Voice, season 25) at my reunion. We did not have a chance to practice together. He surprised me giving me the spotlight and then playing Papa Roach -Scars song. Thx to my nephew Mike - equipment/sound man for the day!

That’s a wrap on summer 2k26!
4 treatments down, countless memories made & living like there was no tomorrow. So many things crossed off my bucket list! I made it to September with a full head of hair, and I couldn’t be happier. Life has been soooo good, I am beyond blessed! I am stronger than cancer, and certainly still my happy old self. 🤍

A sincere thank you to everyone who spent their time and braved the weather with us last night at @georgiatheatre. I met a lot of you who were celebrating something special, and none of us wanted to leave you empty handed.

Honestly, we had a blast. There was something magical about swapping songs and seeing your faces. It wasn’t the full set or production we wanted, but I promise to be back and give a proper show! See yall down the road.
