Coming up next: #whitetearsfilm

Dedicated to the life's work of a proudly #woke woman @dorothyknows who walked the talk as soon as she recognized her #whiteprivilege in the FIFTIES.

I AM BECAUSE OF HER. 💛

And I KNOW other #whitewomen can be TOO.

#whitetears are dangerous when weaponized

Me. This year. Last Spring and This Summer. Now. The battle is not mine to fight. This too shall pass. Forgiving and Releasing. Staying in Gratitude. Walking by Faith NOT by Sight.

We gonna be alright. 🙏🏽

Staying in the Circle. 🔵

That unforgettable moment I entered the zone...
It's all @dorothyknows fault. She created a storyteller just by being a lover of the arts. 🎭🎭

This was me 5 years ago. This is first year I'm not dreading the holiday season.

I'm still not a holiday person though..

Tis was the case even when @dorothymom was 100% and #dementia free

She knew this about me and respected it. She made a special Christmas meal the day after each holiday so my friend could come.

I loved her for that. 💛💛💛💛

When she was diagnosed and didn't know difference between one day and the next, I saw her gave her a kiss & hug and spent the holidays with friends without apology.

I was practicing for when the time came...it was too hard otherwise.

At this time of year I remember those who are in the shoes I was 5 short years ago.

And remind you to do the same.

#grief
#holidays
#imissmymom but I'm grateful she is always with me 💛💛💛💛

RE: WHY WHITE TEARS?

I get it from my (white) Mama.

MAMA'S WORDS: Most White people act like everything is normal/just fine instead of acknowledging when something happens to OTHERS.

Or they acknowledge it for a MOMENT, then go right back to acting like everything is okay.....

THIS DON'T HELP!

Then when these same people feel:
- inconvenienced
-unacknowledged
-unappreciated
-uncensored etc.

The #whitetears come

STOP!!!!!!!!!

#votingrights AND #affirmativeaction are UNDER ATTACK
#bookbans are taking place #blackauthors are being taken out of schools

Stop crying and DO SOMETHING!
#whitesilenceisviolence
#georgefloyd died only THREE years ago
#blacklives STILL matter

Please share with your White friends. Or take it to heart if you are White.

@dorothyknows KNEW and spent her life trying her best to enlighten others. This film is me doing my part..

Carrying the baton she passed on to me! 💛💛

#whiteprivilege
#whitetears
#whitefragility

MUST ALL BE ACKNOWLEDGED BY WHITE PEOPLE FOR CHANGE TO COME!

Just got a few more clips from last week's @sagaftra #dayofsolidarity where I spoke on behalf of @wgae at #gaaflcio for our Atlanta based membership...

Audio isn't perfect, so here's some paraphrased closed captioning:

*Apple is a tech company under the AMPTP umbrella, but in this case they refuse to... #thinkdifferent (You'll get it tomorrow)🤣

*AMPTP refused #sagaftra @sagaftra and to quote the great poet @mslaurynhill #youjustlostone

OUR #creativity is NOT your tax write off!!! 😡😠🤬🤬

Photo credit @valcoxphotography @kruzvalero is a damn good actress too!!

Last words of my speech: #creativityisnotonstrike !!!!!

(so far I haven't located video of that part)

Honored to continue to carry Chester and @dorothyknows baton of activism, especially on the night before the date she got her 🕊five years ago...🙏🏽

I will always be Dorothy's #gooddaughter and thankful I wrote my second solo play about it...💛💛and shared it onstage the last three years of her life, including her last Mother's Day weekend. 🙏🏽

P.S. Our parents are always with us. Especially in spiritual essence. Mine were for me on this day/night. Especially my good old dad, the preacher...and my mom who used her voice to serve the human rights of anybody who was not treated fairly.

I'm just proud to walk in their 👣.

It's been five years since I performed this piece the Mother's Day weekend before @dorothyknows got her wings...

Time to pass the baton to a new actress...

Either way this story is going to get told onstage or off!!

#dementia didn't win!
#newhumanitasfinalist (and that was year before it was rewritten and produced a few times)
