Feeling incredibly grateful. 🤍

Being recognized as Best of the South Shore never gets old—and it’s something we will never take for granted.

What started as a vision has grown into something far greater because of the incredible Skin Esteem team, our loyal patients, and a community that continues to trust and support us.

Awards are wonderful, but what means the most is knowing that people choose us, refer their friends and family, and allow us to be part of their care year after year.

To everyone who voted, supported us, and continues to cheer us on—thank you. Truly. We wouldn’t be here without you. 🥹🤍

Best of the South Shore — and so proud to call the South Shore home.

Why assess facial muscles dynamically with ultrasound before treatment? 🔎🩶

Facial anatomy isn’t one-size-fits-all—and neither is muscle function.

Dynamic ultrasound allows us to visualize a muscle at rest and during contraction, helping identify its location, depth, thickness, recruitment pattern, and individual anatomical variation before placing neuromodulator.

Rather than simply treating a wrinkle or relying on predetermined injection points, we can assess the actual muscle creating the movement and use that information to individualize treatment. Our patients also LOVE seeing their anatomy!!!!

Recent literature supports ultrasound assessment for identifying facial muscle variability and improving anatomical precision in botulinum toxin treatment. A 2025 systematic review found ultrasound guidance improved injection accuracy and supported real-time, anatomy-based targeting. (OUP Academic)

Assess the anatomy. Watch it move. Then treat. 🩶

THE MODIOLUS: SMALL REGION, BIG FUNCTION

The modiolus is not a separate muscle. It is a complex, three-dimensional fibromuscular region near the oral commissure where facial muscles interweave.

Consistent core components include:

• Orbicularis oris
• Buccinator
• Zygomaticus major
• Levator anguli oris
• Depressor anguli oris

The risorius may also contribute, but its involvement is variable.

Why is it important? The modiolus helps coordinate movement and stability of the oral commissure—affecting smiling, speech, lip closure and facial expression. Understanding this region is essential when assessing or treating the lower face because its anatomy is layered, interconnected and individually variable.

This image is a schematic educational representation intended to demonstrate the general muscular relationships. It does not reproduce every fiber, depth relationship or anatomical variation.

SEASON London setup day. The work behind a medical conference starts long before anyone takes the stage: staff coordinating every detail, faculty preparing lectures, and researchers refining the work they’re ready to share.

We put in those hours because we care deeply about evidence-based medicine, original research, and moving our field forward. I’m grateful to everyone making this meeting possible.

I’m humbled and honored to be part of the faculty at SEASON London, held at the beautiful Royal Society of Medicine. Founded in 1805, the Society has brought medical professionals together to share knowledge for more than two centuries. It’s a remarkable place to learn from colleagues and contribute to the conversation. 🤍

Thank you to Dr Dawn Naylor, DNP of Skin Esteem Med Spa and Wellness Center, who is a world renowned expert in the field of facial ultrasound in aesthetic medicine. So grateful to have found Dawn, who offers small personalized ultrasound classes with hands on training. Ultrasound in aesthetic medicine has evolved from being mainly a diagnostic tool to becoming a real-time safety and procedural guidance tool. In facial injectables, the biggest value is that it lets you see what is actually underneath the skin rather than relying solely on textbook anatomy, palpation, and landmarks. I look forward to becoming more proficient with my Clarius L20 ultrasound!! #facialultrasound #anatomy #clarius #medicalaesthetics

I was truly honored to speak at Aesthetic Next in Dallas, Texas, on one of my favorite topics—facial ultrasound in aesthetic medicine. ✨

It was an incredible opportunity to share practical, evidence-based insights with fellow aesthetic providers who are committed to advancing anatomical knowledge, patient safety, and clinical excellence.

Interested in learning how to incorporate facial ultrasound into your own aesthetic practice? I offer an intimate, hands-on, small-group course in collaboration with @cutaneousfacialultrasound with 8 CME credits, real-time scanning, and practical clinical application.

Earlobe rejuvenation—the little treatment that can make a beautiful difference. ✨

As we age, our earlobes can lose volume, become thinner and begin to elongate. Piercing holes may stretch, causing earrings to tilt forward or feel less supported.

When performed appropriately, hyaluronic acid filler can restore subtle volume and structure—creating a smoother, more youthful appearance and improving earring support in carefully selected patients.

But this is still an injectable medical procedure, and anatomy matters.

The ear receives its blood supply from variable, interconnected branches of the posterior auricular and superficial temporal arteries. Although the earlobe contains no cartilage, it has an abundant vascular supply that must be respected.

Published techniques describe controlled placement within the subcutaneous tissue of the earlobe. Small amounts of product should be placed carefully using slow, low-pressure injection. Placement that is too superficial may result in visible product or nodules. However, anatomy varies, and no injection plane is completely risk-free.

Beautiful outcomes require careful patient assessment, anatomical knowledge, appropriate product selection and precise technique.

Earlobe filler may improve mildly stretched piercing holes, but it cannot repair a significantly elongated or torn earlobe. Those concerns may require surgical repair.

It may be a small area, but treating it safely requires real anatomical knowledge. 🤍
