This last 8 week block of classes has flown by and we’re almostttt ready to start clinics. A little bit about what we’ve been learning in vet school the past few weeks: 👁️ Ophthalmology surgeries including enucleations, eyelid mass excisions, Hotz-Celsius procedures, and temporary tarsorrhaphy procedures (aka the best week of the semester) ⚫️ Mass excisions in areas of tension and determining what margins to take 🐾 @doubledoggydoc briefly had the sweetest little down Dachshund until he found his forever home 🦷 Learned all about canine and feline dentistry (and that @sheeelbzz_ is a dentistry pro) ✔️ Our class had our state USDA accreditation orientation! Throughout our first and second years, we were required to complete all of the initial modules as part of our One Health courses so that when we graduate, we can submit everything we’ve completed to be accredited. 🩹 Had a week on canine and equine wound management, plastic reconstruction, and skin grafts! Annddddd of course more underwater treadmill sessions which we were trying to wrap up data collection for before I start clinics!

1st semester of vet school is complete 🖤🩺 I am incredibly grateful to be studying what I love with extraordinary people, fantastic faculty, and an abundance of support from my boyfriend, friends, and family. This semester has drawn blood, sweat, and tears, but the thought of healing animals makes it all worth it. Excited to start my new job working in the exotics ward next week and dive into another semester of learning and growing as a veterinary student🐍🩺🤍
