[ NEXT EPISODE // LEADING EDGE ]

Thirty years of BASE and wingsuit flying. Every friend he has lost made a mistake. This year, so did he.
Chris "Douggs" McDougall has been part of the sport's evolution since 2001, Norway's first big-wall tracks, the two-piece years, the Prodigy, the onesie, Red Bull Aces, and a BASE school built on the rules he taught. In Episode 21 he talks about the 2016 season that cost him twenty friends, what social media does to a pilot's margins, and the 38-metre antenna in Angola where he ignored his own gut and paid for it with a year out of the sky.

New episode, Tuesday 27th October. Follow so you don't miss it.

Back in March 2013, Chris “Douggs” McDougall (@douggsbase) became the first person to ever BASE jump in Kuwait. It was a pretty cool moment, but for some reason there doesn’t seem to be much of a digital footprint left.

Chris is a professional Australian skydiver, BASE jumper, and wingsuit pilot. He holds a number of records and has completed more than 5,300 BASE jumps in 50 countries, including one from the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. I reached out to Chris to see if he still had any photos from the event. Luckily he did, and he shared a whole folder with me.

The event was organized by @alhamratower and @activatekuwait, and was called “Skyfall Al Hamra 414”, with 414 referring to the height of the tower in meters. Looking back at it now, it’s actually pretty impressive that Al Hamra was open to such a risky idea.

Swipe left to check out behind-the-scenes photos from the jump, photos of the actual jump, and GoPro footage Chris filmed during the jump (two different viewpoints).
