Canine friendships like this are SO crucial for your dog to be properly socialized, but not in the way you might think… Socialization doesn’t mean letting your dog to play with every single dog and bringing them to the dog park daily so that they have a million “friends.” These types of social interactions create overly-friendly and pushy dogs, which often creates reactive dogs too. Instead, socialization means allowing your dog to create mutual bonds with a select number of well-mannered and well-trained dogs who you know and trust. I would so much rather my dog have one or two close, mutual friends rather than roughhouse and romp with every dog they meet. Arthur & Billie are a perfect example of this - they co-exist in a neutral way, but then can chase and roughhouse like no other, but they listen to each other’s body language and can return to neutral in a split second. They give each other confidence, fulfillment, and teach each other great habits (like recall, neutrality, etc.). Finally getting around to sharing these, but Arthur earned his Dock Junior (DJ) title a few weeks ago @pooch.pool.school! 🏅 He has a new personal best of 13’9,” and skipped the novice category completely in typical Arthur fashion (which I didn’t know was possible until after they told me he got his DJ title). I love seeing how much he loves this sport! For his very first dock diving event, at a new place and pool which we had never been to, I am over the moon with him! He has officially decided this is his favourite sport, and that we need to make many more trips to @k9funcentre and @pooch.pool.school. #dockdiving #dockdivingdogs #sportingdog #dogsports #dogsport, dog sports, canadian kennel club, dock diver, new title

Sooo I think seaside sessions are such a vibe! This water boy was so fun to work with again. He's such a sweet boy and a true trail blazer. I'm pretty sure he was wondering why I was such a slow poke but it was well worth it to see some pretty views with a handsome dog for his second session with me 😍

Easy Puppy Routine ✨👇🏻 Comment “HOME” and I’ll send you a link to a detailed puppy routine GUIDE “Puppy’s first week home!”✨🐶🏠 1. When your dog wakes up, get them immediately outside for potty break. Puppies can naturally not hold their bladder. 👉🏻 Tip: wake up 10 minutes before your puppy does to get them outside before an accident happens. 2. It’s time for food and water. Make sure to give them some time to digest before going into the next step. 3. It’s time for a play! ✨🐶🎾 Play tug of war or simply entertain your puppy with any of their toys. You will create a connection and a bond with your dog. The step usually lasts 5 to 10 minutes. Your puppy is still very young and gets tired very quickly. 4. Another great way to build a connection is to train your puppy. Try foundational commands, such as sit, come here, name, recognition, and or look at me. Take another 5 to 10 minutes for the step. We don’t want to overstimulate the puppy.❌✨🐶💯 5. It’s time for another potty break because play and training gets the bladder going. 6. But at least it’s nap time. Then repeat. 👉🏻 Tip: once you’re a puppy fell asleep, picked them carefully up and placed them in the crate. Do not close the door. We will share more about crate training in another reel.
