An exciting day filled with inspiring photography, wonderful people, and a few unexpected moments.

It’s almost like walking on a dream... almost. ✨😉

Everyone talks about Art Basel, but the city is full of smaller fairs that spring up around it too. And you NEED to make time for them.

@voltaartfairs and @photobasel may be smaller, and the quality can be wildly uneven, but that’s also where some of the best surprises happen.

As ever, I loved exploring @thecampgallery and @irastehmann two galleries that consistently bring work with real conviction rather than just volume.

And then there was @thedanlife.

I’ll admit I’ve dismissed the work as a bit of a one-liner in the past. But his bejewelled Monet, with provenance sparkling on the canvas, was exactly the right joke at exactly the right moment. A work about authenticity, value, branding and the absurd theatre of the art market that somehow managed to be both ridiculous and spot on.

Proof, perhaps, that Basel still has the ability to surprise you when you least expect it.

Let me know in the comments if you’d like me to tell you more about any of the artworks featured! I’d be happy to wax poetic about any of them.
