A big thank you to @putspiceonit for being our #FeatureFriday this week and sharing her IBD journey! ✨

“On Wednesday March 18th, 2020 I found out the unknown I had been dealing with for 4 years. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. When I first got the news, the feeling was bittersweet because I was happy I finally figured out the pain but I was also frustrated and sad that my body didn’t love itself enough that it was fighting against itself and I couldn’t do anything about it. I had spent the week prior at the Mayo Clinic having a series of surgeries and tests so I had a lot of time to recover and a lot of time to think. I prayed about my diagnosis, I journaled, and I accepted it. I wasn’t going to let Crohn’s beat me, I decided I was going to put my gloves on and beat it! I changed my diet by removing red meat and pork and all my other guilty pleasure food. I got an amazing GI doctor. I got an emotional support pet. I started immunotherapy.
A year later, I’m in remission and managing my Crohn’s well. I want people to understand that just because I’m a Crohnie, it doesn’t mean I cannot do things that my non-Crohnies can do. Crohn’s is like going through a break up with someone who’s always going to have an impact on you no matter how long it’s been. “ 🧡

My Line sisters are the absolute sweetest. I couldn’t ask for better sisters. They surprised me with a baby shower lunch today and showered Baby Jayce and I with so much love. It was everything. We are so blessed. I Can’t thank them enough. Love these girls so much 💚💕

Today, on MLK day I joined my Sorors of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated in a day of service with Gleaners Community Food Bank. My Chapter, Lambda Pi Omega split time between the Detroit and Warren Michigan locations and assisted in sorting thousands of pounds of food that will ultimately feed over 10,000 people!
