It's been a while since I read a dystopian fiction, so New Haven: Retribution turned out to be my first book in that genre this year. Although this is a sequel that highly relies on the world, characters, and consequences set by the first book, with a brief summary of previous events, Dr. Adam Kirstein made it very convenient and seamless for me to understand the plot and premise of this book.

The story revolves around James and Sybil after their escape from an authoritarian city named New Haven, and bringing down that regime becomes the sole purpose of their lives. I felt it was more like a sci-fi war fiction, with many intense events involving loss, difficult choices, betrayal, and emotional as well as ethical dilemmas faced by the characters.

The story is fast-paced for sure, but the characterization could have been a bit better, with more depth and some breathing space for the characters. I liked James, Sybil, and Mario (especially Mario, his character development was nailed), but other characters like Ellie, Jade, and Roy felt more like fillers, even though they played a very crucial part in the story.

What I loved the most was the unexpected twist at the end and how tense the atmosphere feels during the climax. I expected the worst, I expected James to turn evil, but the choice he made was indeed heroic and delivered a deserving closure for his character after everything he suffered and endured. Dr. Adam Kirstein handled this moral conflict particularly well.

Overall, it was a good read with a sad but satisfying end.

✨ What are you guys reading nowadays and how's it going so far?

After four years, it’s finally done.

I reintroduce to you. Ashes of Aeternus, written and directed by me. My first short film.

Made by the most talented people I know.

What started as a small idea turned into a film made by twelve people who showed up purely for the love of creating something real. This project went through rewrites, reshoots, long nights in post, and long pauses where life demanded attention before art could.

Post-production was the hardest part, getting the film to feel right, not just finished. I took my time, stepped away when needed, and came back with clearer eyes.

The film has officially been submitted to its first round of festivals. Now we wait.

No shortcuts. No rushing.

Just patience, trust in the process, and gratitude for everyone who believed in it. Thank you to everyone who was patient with me. I love you. This is for you. WE DID IT, WE MADE A FUCKING MOVIE!

Private screening for the cast and crew incoming. If you can't make the event, message me for a screener.

More soon.

Life’s really just a collection of moments with the people you love most.

The ones that take effort — the trips, the late nights, the hard-to-plan reunions those are the ones that stay with you forever.

When those chances come, take them. Always.

“Neither tight pants, uncomfortable expensive boots, on our feet the majority of the time, or an all night shoot until 8AM could curb our enthusiasm! 🤣😂🤣 One of the best parts about booking so much is meeting cool, kind people! Great meeting you both. @dradamk93 your wild sense of humor really amped me up in the wee hours. Lol! Cheers to you brother!”
