A #microadventure to the East Coast this week…
.
.
One ferry & four buses to Dundee to stay over ahead of the Tuesday trip to Forfar for the @partickthistleofficial game. Daft? Me? How dare you!
.
.
Lovely evening in #Fundee, including a splendid Revolver Cocktail (think coffee-esque Old Fashioned) in the swanky speakeasy splendour of @draffensofdundee before a wee pint of heavy (cos I’m old now) and a chat about why I was in Dundee with an old fella who told me – in that fantastic accent – “eh’m a United man, ken, but eh’ve always hid a wee soaft spoat fur eh Jegs, eh?” As @villanoxiv said before the game, if we had a pound for every time we’d heard the soft spot line, we could have bought the club by now!
.
.
Train jaunt to Broughty Ferry on the Tuesday morning after seeing an interpretive panel in Dundee that said “Did you know Mary Shelley was partly inspired to write Frankenstein following her time in Broughty Ferry?" No, I did not! Found zero evidence though. I think it's perhaps a tourist scam! 🤣 Smashing wee place though, would gladly return, though you need to be careful not to trip over artisan bakeries and high-end gift boutiques.
.
.
Hadn’t visited Forfar since I think 1989; glad to see they’d kept the prices the same though - £9 for the best fish supper I’ve had in ages then £3.80 for a pint of McEwans’ 80shilling in The Thistle Bar with the City Centre Supporters Bus gang.
.
.
The game was almost a formality – Jags three up in 15 minutes before a 4-0 final score. Wandered round all the un-segregated ground for the best vantage points and met IRL (as the kids say) a couple of fellow InstaJags – @kieranashton1876 & @OnlyThistle
.
.
Bussed back to the city before an early start on Tuesday for the return leg of the epic odyssey…only transport hitch across the 3 days was a 20 minute delay on the @rideember bus home, for which they refunded the whole cost! What a result. Newly repaired knee coped well with the slopes of Dundee – whose idea was booking accommodation in the “Hilltown” area of the city 🤦
.
.
10/10 trip, would recommend, not even deducting points for a lack of reanimated corpses 🧌
.
.

Draffens x Sogni

Amazing Scottish night with a special Partners @glenfiddichwhisky @williamgrantuk

One night, too many hugs and the best kind of energy 🍸
Scotland, you were loud, warm and beautiful in the most unexpected way.
The kind of night that leaves your camera roll full and your voice completely gone.
To everyone behind the bar, around the bar, dancing, shouting and laughing with us — thank you for every single moment ❤️
A big thank you to the two guys from Draffens for bringing their energy to the other side of the bar.
Same vibe next time?
Always. 🫶

End of an era!

After 4 amazing years behind the bar at GaGa, it is time to move on.

Thank you Fraz, Marc and Julie for bringing me on board.
Countless competition drinks created.
My first takeover with @elosikk.chef at @oldpal_edin
Hosting my first takeover with @tristhespiritsguy @daddymarmalades and @draffensofdundee
Sticking GaGa stickers up everywhere when I travelled (still got some so watch out!!)

I’ll be slinging drinks from 5pm today.

Nothing beats a fresh Gin & Schweppes Slimline Tonic at your favourite neighbourhood bar in the sunniest city in Scotland (It’s Dundee - I know right?!).
