Alongside @ntucreated we are delighted to be contributing to this week’s Art History Festival 2026 organised by @forarthistory. The festival will feature a broad array of activities from many fantastic organisations across the UK, all celebrating the full spectrum of art history in all its richness, across the histories of art, architecture and design.

Together, we’re running two workshops and a talk. Visit the link in our bio to find out more and to book your places.

🔙 Last week the New Art Exchange (@new_art_exchange) Curate cohort were together for one last time to pitch their curatorial concepts to NAE Curator David Sinclair (@david_sinclair_1965), our wonderful guest panelist Bo Olawoye (@bosedaolawoye) and I.

⭐️ This was the final part of this year’s programme and an opportunity for each of the participants to gain valuable experience presenting their ideas to their peers and the panel.

🏆 Alongside the developmental opportunity there was a little added inactive for everyone, as the panel were asked to select the strongest proposal, for which the participant would be awarded a 2-week residency at NAE and a small bursary. We were delighted to award this to Nuji Sadeq, who shared plans for a powerful curatorial & social art project centred around the rise of hate crime in the UK. I’m looking forward to seeing how this project develops further with the support of NAE and hopefully see the show realised.

💯 Congratulations to the whole cohort for their presentations and the impressive engagement throughout the Curate programme. It was a pleasure!

This weekend just gone, the final year BA Fine Art students at NTU opened their degree show. It also marks the end of my first academic year here as lecturer. I’ve been reacquainting myself with the brilliance and bureaucracy of higher education, hence being MIA (Missing in Art) for a few months.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It’s a weird time for universities, especially those delivering arts courses, and getting this role left me feeling like I’ve somehow slipped through the gap of a drop-down door at the last minute, action sequence style.⁣⁣
⁣
I can claim no part in the quality of this show, which has been a labour of love for the third-year team and cohort, but I can confirm it’s a banger.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Common Ground runs until 15:00 this Friday.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Happy to be here.⁣⁣

& many more I photographed too badly to do justice…

CURATE programme residency @new_art_exchange w @markdevereux_projects / day 3 nottingham + pitch / may 2026

✨ a last full day in nottingham, discussing fundraising/marketing/partnerships + ending on a mock pitch for a potential imaginary show.

🩵 love a classroom setting, and it was super cool meeting all these talented artists and curators, with their own projects cooking and percolating.

Today was the final day of the Curate residency at New Art Exchange (@new_art_exchange). We’ve had such a full day with the cohort having great conversations that I only took one photo at the end of this wonderful group!

This morning staring with a session discussing different approaches and methods to pitching your curatorial idea. We spoke about applications, proposals and verbal presentations, sharing different ways in which we can use language to entice and not alienate.

We then talked about the perilous world of arts funding & fundraising. Looking at public funding, trust & foundations, crowdfunding, individual giving, sponsorship and more, we discussed the importance of retaining the focus of the project whilst being strategic in connecting to funders’ requirements.

After a delicious lunch in the cafe at NAE we focussed on communications and marketing strategies. We looked at how you can build an approach to promoting an exhibition seamlessly connecting to the concept using social media campaigns, press releases, visual identity/branding and targeted communication.

To conclude the 3-day residency, each pairing of the cohort that had been working together throughout the programme pitched their fictional/real exhibition proposals to the cohort and I receiving feedback to support their future development.

Each of the cohort will now be going away to plan and prepare an exhibition concept that they will be pitching to members of the NAE team and I in June. They will also be actively supporting the installation of the forthcoming NAE Open.

Yesterday, some of our committee got the opportunity to do some art handling with @boningtongallery in preparation for our workshop “Talking Heads”. Using some (very sweaty) purple gloves, we were taught how to safely transport loaned items from one place to another.

A massive thanks to Tom for helping us out!

Photogrammetry - Session with Ibiye Camp (2026)

I was lucky enough to take part in a workshop led by the incredible @ibiye_camp with @ntuart & @boningtongallery to learn about photogrammetry. I worked with the talented @anna_liart & @drawnbyjayni to create a short excerpt exploring the graffiti on the remains of a building in nottingham.
