**REPOST** One year ago today I got on a plane to Georgia to meet up with my internet friends! It was exactly what I needed! It was absolutely amazing to meet at all the friends I have been chatting with online for 4 years! 🍑 2024 Rover Retreat 🍑

Rovers Took Over Georgia!! This past weekend went by way too fast! My heart is so full. Retreat as a returning Rover was so SO special. Being together again with Rovers I met last year, and meeting new Rovers that made it out to their first retreat, was amazing! This group of women is so special, and I’m so glad to have them in my life! Thank you @thereadroversbookclub for everything you do, and to the rest of the planners (@beth.writes.books @we.love.our.books @happycampermrsweller @megsbookrecs )for the best weekend!!

Hatcher House girlies, watching the wild Mormon Wives alone is not good for my “helin’” and it’s just not the same 😭 miss all y’all already so much!

This past weekend was a dream! I am so glad I got on the plane to Georgia! Meeting my internet friends was absolutely amazing! Even though I came home covered in bug bites I would 100% do it again!

💭Thoughts:
What I Liked: 3rd in the Part of Your World Series, I still like that these can be standalone books but have some character cameos across the titles / same world. It’s been a couple years since I read the first so I thought it was fun to have those ah-ha moments when old characters came into play and I started remembering the other plots. (See my post from last summer covering the 2nd book.)

I’ve listened to all 3 of these on audiobook and Zachary Webber has done the MMC each time. His voice is now like a dependable, comforting favorite blanket for me - I’m just gonna snuggle up in it and settle in. Cool to realize Christine Lakin was someone I grew up watching on Step by Step.

Again, more heavy topics/themes driving the plot here, but Abby writes it with care.

Again, great elements of humor and banter between the main characters.

Again, fun animal elements and lovable side characters thrown into the chaos.

Abby has the formula down!

Meh/Things I Didn’t Like:
Not a meh really… but a gentle reminder to check content warnings. Themes can be triggering.

I have been making fun, creative videos since I first started The Read Rovers Book Club in May 2020 - that’s what has set the Rovers apart since day one… encouraging each member to embrace their FUN, joyous, and creative side and get SILLY over bananas, books, and confetti! Spreading joy and laughter has always been at the heart of the Rovers, it’s always been the mission.

I am more than proud to say that this special video consists of 25 gorgeous Rovers, across 3 different countries… and that is only 1/5 of our book club! I cannot tell you how emotional I was editing this video…

Each of you (those included in this video and not!) hold pieces of my heart, you carry my heart in your heart, just as I carry yours in mine. I cannot thank you enough for always being so enthusiastic and excited about our Rover family. Proud is an understatement and endless love is not a big enough word. Forever smiling about living in the FULL (ROVER) HOUSE!!!

Earlier today, I asked you to help me decide which of my library books to pick up based on 1-star Goodreads reviews and boy, did you all deliver.

My heart is still soaring on a Roverlicious high from our 2023 Rover Retreat last weekend 😭😭😭❤️ it truly was a dream come true and my bookish cup is still overflowing with gratitude for all who attended!

I’ve had lots of questions regarding our 2024 Rover Retreat (ahhhhhh!! 😍) and what I can share with you at the moment is…

1. It will be on the East Coast (we alternate coasts each year to be fair as we’ve got Rovers all over ZEE 🌎 babyYyYyy!)

2. You MUST have history of participating with the Rover Gang in the past! This is NOT a bookstagram or bookish retreat… it is a ROVER retreat! ❤️ Haven’t joined our wild bunch for an insanely fun reading month? WELP - October sign ups go live next Wednesday, September 20th at 7:30 AM PST (please set an alarm, this event will sell out FAST!)- come join the fun and see what the hype is all about!!!!!!!! Trust me, your life will NEVER be the same again! 🥹

3. Keep an eye out for retreat announcements to be made in my IG stories towards the end of this year/ early 2024 as the planning committee and I have more details set. We are still relishing in the success of our ‘23 trip and taking a much needed rest n’ relaxation from planning at the moment but we are so excited to start the early stages of planning in a couple months ( @we.love.our.books @megsbookrecs @beth.writes.books @happycampermrsweller you are halves of my heart and I am SO GRATEFUL for you, dream team!!!)

Read Rover Retreat 2023

My heart and soul are so full following my first ever Rover Retreat. Over the last year I have been so burnt out and doubted a lot of things. My stress levels were at an all time high and I was not in the best place. I signed up for this retreat thinking it would be a fun change. I’ve returned home sore from all of the laughter and maybe that hill on the way to the cabin.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this retreat and this group of phenomenal women. They are funny, layered, compassionate and just all around bad asses! Thank you for accepting me in all my sarcastic, poor bracelet making, spooky obsessed, Ryan-whisperer glory.

I love you all and can’t wait for more retreats and to meet even more wonderful Rovers and people that love books as much as we do 🖤🖤

Last Wednesday, I boarded a plane to LAX. On Friday, I met @goolsbybooksandblooms @keene_on_reading and @booksandbackstreet and we road tripped our way to Big Bear, where a weekend on children’s bunk bed mattresses became one of the best weekends of my life.

@luckygreenshelf @goolsbybooksandblooms @just.read.it.allie and I snagged first place in the cabin decorating contest for our absolutely unhinged Evelyn Hugo room, I stole the hometown gift @happycampermrsweller had her eye on, avoided dancing, bought too many bear-themed souvenirs, and shared laughs and hugs(and tears, damn it) with close to 30 women I hope will be life-long friends.

We read The Celebrants by @mrstevenrowley and even though we missed him during our chat, something magical happened when we talked about the book, our relationships with each other, and the book club.

I will be eternally grateful that I got to spend the weekend with each and every one of you.

Thank you so much to everyone who planned this retreat, and to everyone who came. I love you. You are enough.

And I’m sorry for what I said when I was hungry.
