POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

https://richmix.org.uk/cinema/buff-2022-media-day/

Ahead of this year's British Urban Film Festival (@buffconnects
), see three international films selected for the festival at our annual MEDIA DAY on Fri 5 Aug.

We’re delighted to invite filmmakers to find out if they have been selected and press, journalists and industry guests to sample a few films.

Tickets available via @richmixlondon

From Nigeria, we start with a catchy music video short that will get you singing – Wetin Man Go Do – then we head over to Germany via New Mexico with a thrilling short film called The Boy Who Couldn’t Feel Pain, before ending the night with the feature film Collision Course by award-winning director Bolanle Austen Peters.

The line-up:

8.45pm – Wetin Man Go Do

Twisting the script in broken English, Wetin Man Go Do is an original musical that scrutinises the economic state of Africa and lays bare the dangers of thinking the grass is always greener.

8.50pm – The Boy Who Couldn’t Feel Pain

The Boy Who Couldn’t Feel Pain is set in Grants, New Mexico and tells the fictional small-town legend of Chester, a street fighter who can’t feel any pain. When Annie – a bowling alley employee who just moved into town – challenges him to a fight, things begin to change.

9.10pm – Collision Course

A heart-thumping story told in 24 hours that explores the seedy underbelly of rogue law enforcement officers and the atrocious results as they collide head on with a frustrated young man and a conflicted member of the police force. Collision Course is a race against time in a haze of palpable tension; a powder keg teetering on the brink of imminent combustion.

✨Whether it’s @iambrandiharvey motivating us to take care of our bodies and shoot for the stars, or @ruamaeve breaking new ground in theatre since we left uni whilst raising 2 beautiful humans, 🧡or @conyadoss transforming our love lives with her voice and honesty, or @rainpryor beating breast cancer whilst raising an artist & working in tv and showing us that anything is possible, or @therealkalenna healing us through her own experiential rosewater rebirth or @imlindae for redefining natural hair and beauty in archaic industries or @susiefoxy helping women feel special everyday through the power of fashion.🧡

✨💞 And my list could go on, I just want to thank you for being who you are to me, and thank you for showing up daily as a reminder that women are so AWESOME. I LOVE us xxx💞✨

🧡As a woman in film and tv, we represent 2% of the entire landscape so a lot of what we do goes largely unnoticed. I plan on changing that over the next 2 decades. Thank you🧡

@thebritishblacklist for recognising me today. And happy #IWD2022 to every woman, mother, moviemaker, creative who is doing what they love whilst reaching back to help someone else up. I see you. I love ya’ll xxx ✨💞

OUT TODAY in select cinemas
REBEL DREAD @rebeldreadfilm is a documentary about the legendary filmmaker, DJ, musician and commentator, Don Letts @lettsdon. The film is led by Don's archives and stories of 70s and 80s London, as he moved between the city’s punk and reggae scenes, earning his reputation as the 'Rebel Dread'.

A brilliant documentary about a life well lived. He directed some of my favourite music videos including The Clashes “Rock The Casbah” & Bob Marley’s “One Love”.
