💗💙 SCR Area Workday 2026 was one for the books! What a weekend of leadership, learning, service, sisterhood, and FUN!

The New Orleans Chapter showed up and showed out with an official delegation of 34, including mothers, associates, fathers, and teens! 🎉 We were especially proud to celebrate 3 graduates of the Mary Lou Adams Leadership Academy and 6 New Orleans Chapter mothers and 1 Associate who led and served as session panelists and presenters, sharing their talents, expertise, and leadership with our South Central Region. A special thank you to each of you for representing New Orleans so well! 💗💙

From mothers learning and leading, to our teens serving, to closing out the weekend with a fabulous Host Night Pajama Jammy Jam, Area Workday reminded us that there is something special about coming together with purpose, strengthening our leadership, and enjoying the bonds of Jack and Jill sisterhood along the way.
We came ready to Serve, Rise, and Elevate—and New Orleans represented beautifully!

Let’s work, let’s play, let’s live together! 💗💙

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.

A simple question can open the door to an important conversation: “How have you really been feeling?”

New Orleans Chapter mom and psychiatrist Dr. Jennifer Thomas-Taylor, MD, MPH, encourages us to notice changes in the people we care about, make room for honest conversations, and listen without judgment.

Swipe through for ways to recognize warning signs and help someone connect with support. If you or someone you know needs help, call or text 988.

Check in. Be present. Keep showing up.

St. Augustine High School NOLA honored @fitandfaithfulliving at their Hall of Fame GALA for our community service in youth leadership, and we are still soaking in every moment of it.

Standing with a U.S. House of Representatives recognition and celebrating under purple and gold with President @aulstontaylor his staff, students and family. Through trusted partnership, last week reminded us why the work matters. Every scholar we’ve poured into, every program we’ve built, every late night spent believing in what FFL could become, it led to a footprint in my hometown from uptown, 3rd Ward, Kenner, John Curtis Christian School to every ward in New Orleans! ⚜️

To Mr. Taylor, @staugnola thank you for seeing us. To our FFL family who stands beside us, thank you for being our foundation.

This one is for every scholar with us and still ahead of us.

Purple Knight Honor 💜💛

💙 September is Suicide Prevention Month.

New Orleans Chapter Mom and licensed Psychologist, Dr. Dana Labat shares an important message.

A simple check-in can make a difference. Reach out to someone you love, listen without judgment, and remind them that they do not have to face a difficult time alone.

The New Orleans Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated encourages our families and community to speak openly about mental health and help one another find support. There is hope, and help is available.

If you or someone you know needs support:

📞 Call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
📞 The New Orleans Metropolitan District Crisis Line at 1-844-568-6473 for mental health information and resources.
📍 In the New Orleans area, call 211 to connect with VIA LINK for local resources.

Let’s continue to check in, listen, and care for one another this month and throughout the year. 💙

Medicine has cost me moments I can never get back.

My son’s first field trip.
Thanksgiving dinners.
Birthdays with friends.
And more sleep than I care to calculate. 😂

But it has also given me moments I will never forget.

The privilege of being part of a family’s birth story.

The opportunity to give someone their quality of life back.

And the extraordinary responsibility of being there when saving a life is what matters most.

Both things can be true.

I can love what I do deeply and still acknowledge what it has required of me—and of so many people who work in healthcare.

Healthcare is hard. And sometimes a small act of kindness means more than you could ever imagine.

So today, I want to turn this post over to you:

❤️ Who is a healthcare professional you’ll never forget?

Tag a physician, nurse, doula, therapist, tech—or anyone who cared for you or someone you love—and tell them why.

I promise you, they need to hear it.#drveronicaspeaks #healthcare #kindness

Dr. Cerina Fairfax was a mother. A dentist. A community pillar. And she deserved to be protected.

In the wake of the tragic loss of Dr. Cerina Fairfax and former Virginia Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, we are reminded that mental health, safety, and support systems are not separate from maternal and family health, they are central to it.

Dr. Dana Labat, licensed clinical psychologist, reminds us that when we care for mothers, we must also care for the environments they live in, the relationships they navigate, and the emotional weight they carry.

In Louisiana, femicide and intimate partner violence are critical drivers of maternal mortality. This is not just a statistic, it is a call to action. Protecting mothers means addressing mental health, recognizing warning signs, and ensuring access to safe, supportive resources.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to these organizations: @familyjusticecenter

You are not alone. Support is available. And our collective care can save lives.

Black maternal health is more than physical. It is mental, emotional, and deeply human. 🖤

Dr. Dana Labat, licensed clinical psychologist and one of our very own, reminds us that anxiety, stress, and the weight of high risk pregnancies cannot be overlooked. When we prioritize mental health, we create space for safer pregnancies, healthier recoveries, and stronger mothers.

Support looks like checking in, listening without judgment, and encouraging care that nurtures the whole mother. Because when moms are well, families and communities thrive.

In March, the New Orleans Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. hosted Wine & Wisdom—an open conversation on the journey from menarche to menopause.

🍷 We laughed
💬 We learned
💡 We empowered

Because too many women move through their bodies without the information they deserve.

From first periods to fibroids, fertility to perimenopause—knowledge is power and protection.

When we teach our girls, support women, and honor every stage, we change outcomes.

💗 Every woman deserves to know:
✔️ Your body is not a mystery
✔️ Your symptoms matter
✔️ Your voice belongs in every exam room

Let’s replace silence with wisdom, community, and joy.
