& not staying dead.
i'm afraid of spontaneous human combustion

HERE I AM, PRY ME OPEN is nine months of outpouring & stopped & erupting emotion. six months of pre top surgery poetry & 3 months of post-op. woven within these poems are stories St. Cloud can't stop telling, thoughts he can't help but keep thinking, spirals & cycles he’s been unravelling; in these poems St. Cloud finally gives voice to some of his most powerful demons. here i am, pry me open

2 years of Body Slam!♡
Our very first slam was September 2nd, 2024. I’m fighting off the overwhelming urge to write something long & sappy, but I’ll save all the tears, theatrics, & BS for our ANNIVERSARY SLAM on September 14th (which you should all totally attend) 🥊
What I WILL say is that Body Slam loves you! Thank you all for showing up time & time again. There is no BS without y’all.
Expect the stakes to get even higher this year…

HEY did we tell you we’ve got an amazing LIVE POETRY NIGHT coming up? It’s TRUE! Friday, July 24, 2026 at 7:30pm, come enjoy another fabulous evening of live poetry, hosted by atlas st cloud. KN95+ earloop style masks required and provided free. Tonight we have the privilege of sharing poetry presented by three local poets, whose bios follow! In their own words -
Zach Weiss: An immigration attorney as well as a poet, Zach frequently uses his art as an excuse to complain about his job. History, languages, and his Mexican heritage are common themes in his poetry. He really likes tamales.
Meghs: 45% poet. 45% improv comedian. 15% bad mathematician.
Sam Brown: the fuck i need a bio for? y'all got memories.
It’s going to be a great evening! $10 admission (shared between poets and venue), some poets may have merchandise at the show (artist keeps all proceeds from merchandise sales), beverages are only $3 and include coffee, sodas, sparkly waters, and Boxed Water. Fiddler’s Dream is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, entirely volunteer, and currently celebrating 39 years as an acoustic performance venue. Thank you for supporting local and touring artists in an inclusive, accessible space! #listeningroom #phoenix #phoenixarizona #livepoetry #masksrequired #MasksRequired #communitycare #newintown #nonprofitorganization #allvolunteer #cleanair #cleanairevents #greatcoffee #fridaynight #coffeehousevibes #youarewelcomehere #fridayfun #poetrycommunity #phoenixpoetry #phoenixpoetryevents

Baby’s first traveling team!🎖️
Last month we took our very first slam team to the Bigfoot Poetry Festival in Portland, Oregon! What an incredible honor to compete against the most talented teams & share space with all our favorite poets.
You spend months preparing for events like this. Nonstop writing, constant practice, editing, memorizing, blocking, fundraising, scheduling. When you finally make it & feel the way this community holds you, you remember why every second was worth it. Thank you, Portland poets, for holding a space so special.
I could not be more proud of this team- how hard we all worked, how we hold each other, our constant laughter, our endless love for art & each other. This Body Slam family grows bigger & brighter every day.
And obviously, we couldn’t do any of it without you Body Slam poets, fans, & everything in between.
Coming up on the 2 year anniversary of Body Slam & I can barely believe how lucky we’ve been! Hosting these shows & events, sharing this space with you all, creating this beautiful community- thank you❤️
As always, BS LOVES YOU! 🥊

HAPPY PRIDE BODY SLAMMERS 🏳️‍🌈
This month we got up to all sorts of gay BS at our Flagstaff vs Phoenix Pride Slam!
City pride was on the line & @manicchangeling took home the belt for Flagstaff 🥊 Looks like Phoenix might want a rematch…
Thank you all for coming out (haha get it?) & making this slam full of love & light & queer joy. BS ❤️s you ALWAYS!

This month was also a very sad & special goodbye to our Rocky. You may know him as the man who takes your money at the door, but he’s been here from the start- working behind the scenes in every way imaginable to keep this ship afloat & we’re going to miss him so much! He’s been awarded the very first Body Slam MVP❤️ Rocky, we’ve been so lucky to have you & Utah is so lucky to be stealing you from us!

Alright, enough sap- love you all! Happy Pride!🏳️‍🌈
