Give this 1 minute of your time to change your life.
10,000 steps came from a 1960s pedometer advert. It was a slogan, not science.

Walking is great. But if your body has done the same walk for years, it’s stopped noticing.
If it isn’t challenging you, it isn’t changing you.

And women? We were taught to be shiny, not strong. Toned. Small. “Not too bulky.”

Your body is an instrument, not an ornament.

I learned that through cancer: strength is what got me back to me. Thank you to @futuredreamscharity for being part of this story.

Muscle protects your bones and your balance, and it’s what keeps you independent at 80.

Strength isn’t vanity. It’s longevity. 💪

So be honest are you a walker or a lifter?

“Do you drink?”

Three little words that can carry a whole lot of guilt.

When someone tells you they’ve had breast cancer and your response is “Do you drink?”, what they can actually hear is:

“So, did you bring this on yourself?”

Last night I was asked about alcohol and breast cancer during a talk, and it really got me thinking about the narrative we’re creating.

Yes, alcohol is a recognised risk factor. I’m not disputing science.

But cancer is complicated. Things don’t happen in isolation. And having a glass of wine doesn’t mean you caused your cancer.

Life is also there to be lived, enjoyed and celebrated.

We can educate women about risk without making them feel guilty about their diagnosis.

Because trust me, women who’ve had cancer have already spent enough time wondering what they could have done differently.

You didn’t deserve cancer. You didn’t bring it on yourself. And you certainly don’t need to justify your life choices to anyone.

I’m all for education. I’m not here for blame.

Has anyone ever asked you “Do you drink?” after you told them you’d had cancer? And how did it make you feel? ❤️
