Work-in-progress 🪼👀

First time exploring spatial visuals + audio to create an immersive underwater performance-installation experience as part of my commission with @sutherland.lab , supported through their @nsfgov funded research on tentacle ambush predators.

After working in 7.1.4 spatial sound, I can’t go back now…. I’m HOOKED 😭

Grateful to @onassis.onx + @newinc for giving me the space and time to develop this early prototype. 🙏🏽

Can’t wait to keep developing this and share it with you❤️

Home sweet home, what would we do without you? 🌎
This Earth Day, I’ve been reflecting on how I try to align my values with my artistic practice and how we can care for the planet while making and sharing our work.

Here are a few ways I’ve been exploring that:

1. Be curious about nature and listen to it. Let it inspire you.

2. Collaborate with scientists to support science communication and inspire the public with the wonders of our world.

3. Explore mundane objects and see how it can inspire you.

4. Allow nature to inspire your wardrobe. Both creatively and sustainably by utilizing up-cycled materials, biodegradable or recycled materials, second-hand, renting, and loaning.

5. Stand up for your values through your speech, art, and actions.

6. Connect and serve your community.

7. Travel sustainably when you can and/or find ways to reduce long haul trips for one-off shows. Ask venues and festivals to provide locally sourced food, vegan/vegetarian options, no single-use plastic, and a water station.

8. Find ways to present your music sustainably by utilizing sustainable materials for merch and exploring alternative modes for performing.

9. Share your beauty with the world. Artists are needed now more than ever to help us envision a world filled with love and kindness.

The system and infrastructure makes it impossible for us to do everything perfectly every time. It can oftentimes feel overwhelming and hopeless. But just like what I’ve learned from my studies of plankton, we can all make a difference when we come together and take small actions. There’s no one big solution for all of the world’s problems. What it takes is for all of us to come together and chip away at the problems little by little every day. ❤️

Nature inspires me and has taught me so much about how to navigate life. If this resonates, I hope it inspires you too, or at the very least, to step outside and reconnect with the place we call home 🌳

Happy #earthday 🌱💕

Upcycling: How do you like to do it? When I found this nightgown at @goodwillnfl I grabbed it because of the velvety and soft forest green that would be perfect for fall. Florida will never be quite cool enough for this cozy nightgown so I made this easy crop top with detachable sleeves and pencil skirt! I already owned a few pieces like these although I could definitely see a possibility for a maxi skirt, an oversized crop jacket, and more. For me, I love upcycling into separates because I add more options for mixing and matching into my wardrobe.

We made this and more magic at my last Upcycling workshop at @sprucejax and I’ve helped more people get creative in private lessons! It’s so exciting to see people learning a new skill and using it. I can’t wait to share more soon!

When dreams of eloping in Scotland are pushed aside by a global pandemic, a beautiful alternative close to home offered similar characteristics with a southern twist. From the vine covered stone ruins, the historic and romantic @greyfieldinn to the wild horses roaming free, Cumberland Island felt like the next best thing. With sentimental details like a custom dress by @dressmitra and florals by @daughters_studio and embroidered handfasting cords by @strateupkari Beth and Jon picked their quiet ceremony spot among oaks and palms. After a sweet ceremony we wandered the island and finished the day with cake and champagne back at the inn. It was every bit wonderful.
