Remember how easy it was to make friends as a young child?

Two reasons:

1. You cared a lot less about what other people thought.
2. You spent time with the same people every day in a school environment where you’re learning, growing and playing.

Building community isn’t complicated from the outside, but we tend to make it more difficult than it needs to be.

Step 1: Define what a flourishing community looks and feels like to you.

Step 2: Put yourself in the physical environments where that kind of community exists.

Step 3: Keep showing up.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to think more about connection. It’s to spend more time connecting.

We all desire love in a way that makes sense to us but the people around us can’t understand that unless we share it. Taking responsibility for what you want to receive and give from your relationships is a powerful way to improve them.

2 questions to start with:
1. For yourself: what are the practical ways or actions I like to receive love.
2. For someone else: what are ways I can love, support you?

It may sound simple but I find many people expect+ guess which often = missing the mark and frustration

I wanna see us all win!

Whatever your goals are, if you’re out there putting in the work- I see you and I’m always going to celebrate that.

Faster, slower, in better shape, just starting out…..all of it deserves its flowers. Effort will always impress me and how you treat others along the journey says more to me than your pace ever will.

Support your people, do hard things, and be so badass that you inspire others to rise up to their potential! 🫶🏼

He flatlined at 23.
Four hours later, he was using again.

@michaelchernow overdosed on heroin in an East Village apartment.

He came to, swore it was over, and relapsed the same day.

So many people had told him to get sober. None of it landed.

Then his boss Frank fired him. Told him he loved him, and that he was dying.

That time, he heard it.

He made one phone call. That was 22 years ago. He hasn’t had a drink since.

Today he’s a husband, a dad of two boys, a successful entrepreneur, and an amazing human.

There’s always a way out.
