POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Max Drexler director and creator of Palm took non traditional filmmaking mixing scripted work with documentary style editing to create the film. Even the story itself seems to been something that a documentarian would take on but instead he molded his script into the feeling. Shooting on 16mm in partnership with Kodak.

BEST NEW ARTIST: @ivyknight___

Ivy Knight crafted her debut album ‘Iron Mountain’ in the Hudson Valley while she was finishing her college senior thesis, a research project centered on data centers and their environmental impact. The project actually shares its name with a real-world data facility, and her songwriting consistently conjures images of industrial machinery disrupting the landscape it occupies.

Over sparse, subtle instrumentals from producer and close collaborator Deer park, Ivy paints sprawling landscapes of a lost American Southwest, finding equal amounts of warmth and pain in the hot desert air.

PALM | 200T & 500T 16mm

In South Los Angeles, a palm tree caretaker faces the quiet unraveling of his work and identity.

Palm is premiering on June 24th at the Palm Springs International ShortFest.

“We shot on Super 16mm and processed and scanned at the Kodak Film Lab in NYC. Shooting on film was extremely important to us, as it encouraged the kind of attentiveness the film was built around. Working with non-actors, we couldn’t rely on endless takes and coverage, which forced us to be deliberate about what we captured. The texture of Super 16mm also complemented the physical nature of the work in the film—the ropes, trees, dust, and tactile labor. The film has a strong visual language, thanks to Connor’s eye and your beautiful film stock, and we would love to promote the film with Kodak.”
