Sometimes a partnership comes together in a pretty perfect way.

SAFE Bar Network team member Darian Everding @drinkingwithdarian recently competed on Cocktail Wars, sponsored by @brownforman. To mark the moment, the community gathered for a watch party where @fordsgin helped make the celebration even more memorable.

It was a fantastic night, but it also represents something much bigger.

Across Iowa, our growing SAFE Bar Network community is made up of venues committed to creating safer, more welcoming experiences for guests and hospitality teams. Each one plays a role in building environments where people can enjoy great nights out with confidence.

We’re proud to partner with Brown‑Forman to support the people behind those experiences—equipping hospitality teams with practical skills to prevent overconsumption and harassment, recognize when something feels off, and step in before a situation escalates.

Congratulations to Darian, and thank you to Fords Gin and Brown‑Forman for helping us celebrate.

Behind every great night are people looking out for each other.

As I take this day of rest and reflect on the past week's trip, I am filled with love, appreciation, and gratitude for all of the communities I am privileged to serve, as well as those who make me feel like I belong.

Hospitality is work, and worthy of the time to celebrate the people who put in so much work to create uplifting and lasting experiences for those fortunate enough to be received as guests.

If it ever looks like I have it figured out, know this:
1. I fucked up enough times that I get it right now
2. Every success I've achieved grew from learning from my failures
3. I want you to hold me accountable, but it's not your responsibility; I hold me accountable
4. I don't condemn others while I've benefited from grace; we can all only do as well as we understand

I'm still working on taking more photos to capture the moments, and I console myself by looking forward to our next meeting! 🥰🙏🏽💗

Day 4: Goodbye for now!

I have learned so much this week working alongside @t.a.breaux. I already absolutely adored the @jade_liqueurs Absinthes, but I have an even deeper appreciation for all of the hard work that has sustained the Jades since 2004!

I am grateful for the opportunity to pull together everything I've learned in WSET 3, gin school, CGD, and all the other details I've picked up along the way. I can't wait to come back!

1 - Heading into the distillery this morning.
2 - Where I spent most of my time staring today.
3 - While we didn't distill @lucid_absinthe this week, the batch was just being finished as we arrived and I had the privilege of tasting the pre-dilution product. WOW! Lucid is my go-to for accessible traditional absinthes and nestled a little deeper into my heart this week.
4 - C'est moi!
5-6 - It's might sound silly but one of the things I was most looking forward to on this trip was putting in the physical labor to clean out stills. I am learning how to live within my body and enjoying finding new ways to exercise it - and goodness this is a full body workout! We loaded a whole lot of botanicals into those stills, and what goes in must come out!
7 - Sweeping is a super meditative activity for me. I took a few quiet moments to sweep the floor in the herb storage area where we weighed and measured everything out for production was a blessing as we ended our day. It feels good to show little measures of gratitude to the space that has provided so much to so many.
8 - Floors sprayed down, buckets drying, equipment maintained and appreciated. I am certain I'll be finding bits of botanicals on myself and things for months to come. What a special, precious place!

I will continue to share snippets and moments from this journey over the coming weeks, but for now: Thank you Ted, Jade Liqueurs, Lucid Absinthe, and Distillerie Combier for having me; thank you @mikehoversten for holding down the fort while I was gone and for encouraging me to cultivate my glimmers; thank you @theundergroundames crew for being freaking awesome and to the Ames community for joining me in my whimsical love of the best absinthes in the world ♡
