Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency

Residencies for Northern California Early to Mid-Career Time-Based Artists

RSVP for one of our info sessions
to learn more about the dear program

If you are not familiar with the Dresher Ensemble Studio, we strongly encourage you to attend the information session at the studio.

Over the past five years, approximately 75% of the residencies have been awarded to artists who were able to clearly articulate their project’s technical and spatial needs, drawing on information gathered during a visit to the studio. Seeing the space in person often helps applicants better understand its possibilities and limitations, resulting in stronger and more precise proposals.

Dresher Ensemble Artist Residency awards 6 residencies annually to early and mid-career artists—either individuals, or groups collaborating on a single project.

Since 2012, DEAR has provided 80 residencies, supporting the artistic growth of over 300 artists—helping artists experiment, innovate, and reach new audiences—and serving as a vital engine for creative development in the Bay Area and beyond.

~*~ AFTERKII TALKBACK & RAVE ~*~

⚡️Saturday 9/16
⚡️Doors at 3:30

Join us for a deeper dive into the research and technologies behind the 2023 ARC Combustible performances with a talkback facilitated by Tiare Ribeaux with Ambrose Trataris aka DestroyHerr and Driven Arts Collective followed by afterki IRL <> VR RAVE. A live virtual reality event with DJs will be projected into CounterPulse’s theater space immersing live audiences in the aesthetics and sounds of the virtual reality rave scene and interested audiences can use the Oculus to experience the virtual reality world directly.

This event is free and open to th public!

More about the Moderator:
Tiare Ribeaux is a Kanaka 'Ōiwi filmmaker, artist and creative producer based in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Her work involves a magical realist exploration of spirituality, labor, and the natural environment, drawing upon the structure of dreamworlds and Hawaiian cosmology to critique both social and ecological imbalances. Her films use visual narrative storytelling and components of speculative fiction and fantasy to reimagine both our present realities and future trajectories of lineage, queerness, place and belonging. Her work often combines with installation elements to create immersive and expanded media experiences. As a curator and producer, she founded B4BEL4B Gallery in 2014 as a platform and community space to prioritize underrepresented + queer artists in media arts, where she was the artistic director for 8 years.

We Love Our MOM COMMunity (alumni)!
"I’ve been living in Oakland primarily working on music. I’m a part of an art collective doing shows that explore AI and sensor tech for dance and music, been performing at underground bunker concerts. And lots of surfing."
